About the role:
This person will support Product Development Engineering for Endoscopy R&D at Boston Scientific with a focus on firmware development for imaging systems. This engineering role improves products, materials, processes, or equipment and solves problems of moderate complexity. Under limited supervision/guidance, compiles, analyzes, and reports operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Participate in and successfully contribute to project teams typically including the following activities: product design and development, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process capability studies, research investigations (animal and clinical studies), report preparation, and process/test documentation
- Work independently to plan and schedule own activities necessary to meet timelines
- Design and coordinate standard engineering tests and experiments
- Design, procure, and fabricate tooling and fixtures
- Perform troubleshooting on new products/process problems as related to design, material, or process
- Summarize, analyze, and draw conclusions from test results independently
- Prepare standard reports/documentation to communicate results to technical community
- Responsible for engineering documentation
- May train and/or provide work direction to other engineers and technicians
- Work cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing to ensure project success
- Demonstrate Product Life Cycle system knowledge through delivery of high-quality deliverables
- Communicate proactively
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant R&D experience
- Experience in embedded firmware development C/C++, and code development processes with debugging emulation and simulation tools
- Understanding of basic hardware/software interface
- 10-20% global travel
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with FPGAs, especially with soft-core processors
- Experience with PIC MCUs and ARM Cortex-M
- Familiarity with software development life cycles
- Self-motivated and able to work independently
- Excellent problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Knowledge of Matlab or other programming language
- Experience with developing Medical Imaging Products
- Able to apply product life-cycle development process independently
