 About the Role:

As an R&D Engineer III, you will be a key member of the Sustaining R&D team within Boston Scientific’s Urology Division. This division supports the design and sustainment of technologies for treating a wide range of urology-based issues,  while ensuring compliance with evolving regulatory and standard requirements.

In this role, you will contribute to cross-functional teams to develop or modify products, materials, processes, or equipment for projects of moderate complexity. Under general supervision, you will compile, analyze, and report operational, test, and research data to support performance standards for newly designed or modified products, processes, and materials. You will assist in design change analysis and ensure deliverables needed to support design changes are executed to achieve project goals. A successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment, possess strong technical skills in design elements, and demonstrate the ability to contribute to project outcomes.

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows hybrid work model, requiring employees to be in our local office three days per week.

Your Responsibilities Include
:

  • Provide design engineering support for assigned Sustaining projects.
  • Contribute to project teams, including activities such as design development, experiment design and execution, establishment of specifications and drawings, testing of materials/products, and research investigations.
  • Perform structured work assignments related to job function, with increasing independence as experience grows.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving on product/process issues related to design, materials, or process.
  • Summarize, analyze, and draw conclusions from test results; prepare standard reports/documentation to communicate results to the technical community.
  • Communicate project status and technical details to management and cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain engineering documentation in accordance with quality and regulatory requirements.
  • May provide informal guidance to new team members or lab technicians.
  • Work cross-functionally with project management, quality, process development, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing personnel to ensure project success.
  • Demonstrate understanding of design control principles and the product life cycle through generation of high-quality deliverables.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Biomedical or Mechanical preferred).
  • 3+ years of work experience in similar positions.
  • Experience with design change assessment or impact analysis for regulated products.
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to cross-functional teams/projects.
  • Understanding of design controls and risk management within the medical device industry.
  • Basic understanding of the Quality System per ISO 13485 or 21 CFR 820.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Biomedical or anatomical understanding of urological systems.
  • Experience with data analysis and statistical methods.
  • Experience working with cross-cultural teams.
  • Experience with polymer-based medical devices (silicone-based preferred).
  • Experience with product lifecycle management systems (e.g., Windchill).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to plan, schedule, and execute activities necessary to meet project timelines and budgets.

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com—will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
