About the role:
The SAS Administrator position will be part of the Data, Research and Analysis (DRA) team within the Health Economic and Market Access (HEMA) unit at Boston Scientific.  The selected candidate will use their SAS and AWS technical knowledge to support the DRA team in completing analysis for the individual Boston Scientific business units working with the HEMA, Marketing, and Corporate Account teams.  The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of SAS maintenance and data management for the team and server as a liaison with IT on all technical needs.

 

Your responsibilities will include:
Technical Administration

  • Initially gain an understanding of the current SAS environment and on an ongoing basis, maintain SAS software including patches, maintenance releases and license renewals. Maintain listservs and a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs).
  • Monitor resource consumption (e.g., clean-up of SASWORK and orphaned processes).
  • Serve as liaison with SAS account manager and SAS technical support.
  • Develop and maintain proper documentation of SAS related processes.

Business Support

  • In the short-term, assist the Data Research & Analysis team in the completion of the migration of SAS and data to the AWS cloud.
  • Act as in-house technical support and help desk for SAS users.
  • Provide SAS tips for efficient use of the SAS software (e.g., efficient coding techniques).
  • Coordinate training as needed and inform users of public training options.
  • Work closely with the SAS users and the IT department to address performance issues via tuning and changes in architecture.
  • Maintain SAS user lists and coordinate with other BSC SAS users as necessary.
  • Work with SAS users to understand business needs to assess future needs for both hardware and SAS software 
  • Participate on projects using SAS to develop self-service tools and automate processes where possible such as utility writing (e.g., write a script that moves files from one environment to another)

Data Management

  • Coordinate with IT on efficient and accessible storage of DRA owned data assets
  • Partner with IT / Uniform Data Platform (UDP) team to manage security access for data owned by the Data Research & Analysis team (e.g., create user groups, assign and remove permissions to user groups).
  • Monitor AWS cloud data usage and costs and ensure efficiency of data storage and access
  • Develop and maintain proper documentation of file structure and management.
  • Coordinate with IT / UDP on ongoing data file loads from outside vendors including implementing a QA process and assessing opportunities for automating processes.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or other technical fields
  • 5+ years of experience working in a technical area with SAS software and the AWS cloud
  • Experience working with and leveraging technical resources
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in technical field
  • SAS Administrator certification
  • AWS certification
  • Experience with the migration of SAS software and data to the AWS cloud
  • Verbal and written communication skills, ability to work within a team structure in a supporting role
