About the Role:


The Tax Accounting group prepares Boston Scientific’s consolidated global income tax provision for reporting in the Company’s quarterly and annual financial statements filed with the SEC. We are an inclusive, high-performing team that enables its team members to reach their full potential while pursuing organizational objectives. We work cross-functionally with the Accounting and Finance departments as well as across the various tax functions within the Corporate Tax department. The Tax Accounting group is also responsible for the tax-related purchase price accounting for transactions, managing the audit of the tax provision, and researching tax technical issues related to financial statement reporting.
 
We are seeking an energetic, self-motivated individual to join our Tax Accounting group as an experienced Tax Senior Analyst. The Tax Senior Analyst assists in the preparation and review of tax provision calculations, researches technical accounting matters, and works closely with others across the Corporate Tax and Accounting functions including the global finance organization. This role reports into the Senior Manager, Tax Accounting.
 
The ideal candidate is someone who has experience preparing or auditing ASC 740 calculations and is willing to leverage previous experience to bring new ideas, fresh insights, and process improvements to the group. This role can work independently in a hybrid environment and build strong relationships with others with ease. The ideal candidate will have a willingness to pivot from their to-do list to work through issues as they arise, as well as to take on new or changing responsibilities as the department continues to evolve with the business. 
 


Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Prepare and review international tax provisions and related return to provision analysis in our tax provision software (Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE Tax Provision) in accordance with U.S. GAAP (ASC 740)
  • Collaborate with external auditors to provide documentation and support throughout the course of their review
  • Prepare quarterly entries in accordance with U.S GAAP, as well as reconciliations between management and U.S. GAAP tax reporting
  • Coordinate deliverables from the various tax groups, including Tax Resolutions, Forecasting and Analysis, Federal & State, and Global Structuring teams, as well as Corporate Accounting and the foreign sites
  • Serve as the main point of contact for corporate tax related questions from foreign sites and outside service providers
  • Maintain monthly tax account reconciliations and propose journal entries as needed
  • Support the execution of SOX 404 internal controls and testing
  • Assist the Tax Resolutions team with the reserves process and ensure they are properly reconciled within our tax provision software
  • Assist the Senior Tax Manager, Acquisitions and Integrations with entering purchase accounting data into the tax provision software and documenting deferred tax balances that are established
  • Assist with researching tax technical issues and documenting findings in a clear and concise manner, including the preparation of memos as appropriate
  • Participate in Boston Scientific's continuous improvement initiative by being willing to suggest and implement process improvements that decrease cycle time and leverage technology
  • Assist with accounting for special projects as needed, including business combinations and divestitures
     

Required qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Proven experience as a Tax Accountant, with at least 3 years of experience in public accounting or a combination of public accounting and a large corporate tax environment
  • Working knowledge of ASC 740 principles and U.S. GAAP
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment, adhere to tight deadlines, exhibit strong attention to detail, problem solve, and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating regularly with all team members
  • Strong analytical, technical, and written and verbal communication skills, as well as an eagerness to learn
  • Excellent technology skills including proficiency with Excel and Office 365
  • Ability to fulfill hybrid expectations of role, working at least 3 days per week onsite at the Marlborough, MA office

 

Preferred qualifications:

 

  • CPA and/or Master’s in Taxation 
  • Experience with tax software applications such as Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE tax Provision and various online research tools
  • Experience with SAP, HFM and SmartView
