The Position:

The Senior Analyst, Tax Forecasting & Analysis will drive the company’s process to forecast the global tax position of Boston Scientific and assess the tax impact of strategic alternatives on the company. Requires strong understanding of global tax laws, income tax accounting, and the Boston Scientific organizational structure and supply chain. Builds relationships across the finance organization to keep informed of business changes, opportunities, and initiatives to determine their impact to the company’s global tax position. Model and analyze multiple planning scenarios and make recommendations for tax efficient alternatives. 


Key responsibilities include:

  • Initiate and execute the overall process to forecast the company’s effective tax rate and global cash tax payments for annual and strategic planning purposes as well as quarterly forecasts. Coordinate inputs from stakeholders.  Understand completed models and factors driving results.
  • Collaborate across the tax organization to understand and model changes in tax laws, corporate structure, and accounting rules and their effect on the company’s effective tax rate and cash tax position.  Analyze and communicate the impact of changes to tax management.
  • Build relationships across the broader finance organization with peers in Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, and New Business teams to understand changes to the business including corporate initiatives, expansion, acquisitions, and divestitures. Update tax forecasting models to accurately reflect business changes.
  • Build flexible, scalable, models to calculate multiple, complex global tax planning scenarios.  Interpret results of models and communicate results to tax management.
  • Deliver timely and accurate results of scenario planning to non-tax stakeholders to allow for agile business decision making.  Explain tax impacts in financial terms to non-tax stakeholders.
  • Analyze variances between forecast models and actual results.  Propose solutions to continuously improve models to increase forecasting accuracy. Implement technology solutions and other improvements to increase process efficiency.


What we’re looking for:

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years’ experience
  • Strong understanding of income tax accounting rules as well as current knowledge of US tax laws
  • Proven ability to operate in a dynamic, deadline driven work environment
  • Proven ability to collaborate successfully as a member of a team
