About the role:

Boston Scientific seeks an inclusive, high performing individual to initiate and lead the company’s process to forecast the global tax position of Boston Scientific.  Additionally, the Senior Analyst will assess the tax impact of strategic alternatives on the company. This position requires strong understanding of global tax laws, income tax accounting, and the Boston Scientific organizational structure and supply chain. The person will build relationships across the finance organization to keep informed of business changes, opportunities, and initiatives in order to determine their impact to the company’s global tax position and will create and analyze multiple planning scenarios and make recommendations for tax efficient alternatives. 

 

Your responsibilities Include:

  • Initiate and lead the execution of the overall process to forecast the company’s world-wide effective tax rate and global cash tax payments for annual and three-year strategic planning purposes as well as quarterly forecasts, utilized for interim accounting and SEC reporting.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across our 35+ person tax organization to model changes in tax laws, tax elections, corporate structure, accounting methods, as well as complex global tax planning scenarios; understand their effect on the company’s effective tax rate and cash tax position.  Analyze and communicate the impact of scenarios to tax management.
  • Build relationships across the broader finance organization with peers in Accounting, Treasury, and FP&A teams to stay aware of and understand the financial impact of proposed changes to the business such as corporate initiatives, expansion, acquisitions, restructurings, and divestitures.
  • Run multiple models to quantify the tax impacts of alternative business scenarios to enable and support management decision making. Coordinate key inputs from stakeholders.  Update forecasting models to accurately reflect final business and structure changes.
  • Build, analyze, and interpret flexible, scalable models. Implement technology-based solutions with data visualization tools such as Alteryx, and Tableau. Develop time saving improvements to increase forecasting process efficiency and reduce cycle time.
  • Compare and analyze forecast models to prior versions and actual results using the company’s ERP systems and tax provision software (Onesource Tax Provision) at periodic increments during the year. Highlight key drivers impacting results and root cause variances; provide insights by using analytical processes. Propose solutions to continuously improve forecasting accuracy.

 

What we’re looking for in you:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Accounting; MSA/MST and/or CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of related work experience in a U.S. based, multinational corporate tax department and/or public accounting
  • Demonstrated proficiency in U.S. federal and state income tax matters including strong understanding of U.S. international tax concepts with focus on the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act
  • Knowledge of ASC 740 principles and US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Advanced Microsoft Office 365 skills, including Excel, preferred
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, deadline driven environment
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate successfully as a member of a high performing team
  • Familiarity with and interest in continuous improvement methodologies and concepts
  • Experience with cutting edge data analytic tools a plus
