About the role:
This role is designed for a strategic leader and influencer who can bring together cross-functional expertise to shape Boston Scientific’s Health Economics and Market Access (HEMA) strategy for pelvic health franchise and Sacral Nerve Stimulation (SNM). Unlike traditional research roles, this position focuses on franchise leadership, reimbursement strategy, strategic collaboration, and global exposure. You will work closely with cross-functional colleagues including Marketing, Clinical, Sales Leadership, National Accounts, regional HEMA, the in-house Reimbursement function, and the Analytic HEMA team to ensure the right evidence and reimbursement strategies are generated, communicated, and activated to expand patient access and accelerate adoption of pelvic health therapies.
In this role, you will gain franchise-level leadership visibility by representing HEMA in strategic forums, while sharpening your ability to influence through collaboration, adaptability, and courageous decision-making. You will develop a global perspective by engaging with regional HEMA teams and payer stakeholders, and strengthen your expertise in market access and reimbursement strategy. This position will allow you to build trusted relationships, communicate compelling value stories, and contribute to the franchise strategy—demonstrating Boston Scientific’s leadership dimensions of Strategic, Collaborative, People, and Performance Leadership, with Integrity at the core.
Work Mode:
Hybrid Preferred, Remote Considered: This role follows a hybrid work model, with employees expected to work onsite at our Marlborough, MA office at least three days per week. We also welcome applications from qualified candidates located outside of a BSC office location, and remote work may be considered.
Your responsibilities will include:
Driving Evidence Strategy (D)
- Lead development of a franchise-level evidence and reimbursement strategy for SNM that clearly differentiates product value.
- Identify unmet evidence needs by analyzing payer trends, competitive publications, and stakeholder input, and prioritize initiatives that have the highest business and patient impact.
- Build strategic relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and external experts to co-author publications, validate payer-relevant endpoints, and strengthen credibility with payers and providers.
- Collaborate with Corporate health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) as the executional partner for research studies, ensuring strategic priorities are translated into protocols, payer-relevant endpoints, and publications that support market access and reimbursement.
- Engage with regional HEMA colleagues to ensure alignment of U.S. priorities with international access needs, creating visibility and impact beyond the U.S. market.
Reimbursement Strategy & Analytic Influence (R)
- Partner with the in-house Reimbursement function to design and implement strategic reimbursement initiatives that secure and expand coverage, influence policymakers, shape coding and payment pathways, and strengthen long-term market access for SNM therapies.
- Collaborate with the Analytic HEMA team to set priorities and ensure reimbursement data and insights are generated to inform strategy, while leaving execution of analyses to the analytic experts.
- Ensure analytic outputs are framed and communicated as payer-relevant insights that support coverage decisions, coding/payment strategy, and Boston Scientific’s overall market access objectives.
Enabling Market Access & Field Impact (E)
- Partner with Field HEMA and Sales Leadership to identify payer and provider needs, and translate those insights into tools and messaging that enable successful commercialization of SNM therapies.
- Provide strategic input on field-owned materials (e.g., dossiers, reimbursement guides) to ensure alignment with HEMA evidence and consistent value messaging.
- Partner with the Analytic HEMA team to guide priorities and ensure the development of customer-facing tools and dashboards that equip field and account teams to drive adoption.
- Collaborate with Marketing, National Accounts, and the in-house Reimbursement function to ensure payer-relevant value propositions are consistently reflected across customer-facing channels and engagements.
Activating Evidence Dissemination (A)
- Lead dissemination of HEMA evidence and reimbursement insights to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring key findings are delivered with strategic impact.
- Translate complex analytic and clinical data into clear, compelling value stories tailored for payers, providers, policymakers, and internal leadership.
- Partner with Marketing, Communications, and Clinical teams to expand the reach of SNM evidence through publications, payer forums, medical congresses, digital platforms, and leadership presentations.
- Ensure global and U.S. dissemination strategies are aligned, maximizing visibility and reinforcing Boston Scientific’s value proposition for SNM therapies.
Multi-Functional & Global Partnerships (M)
- Represent HEMA in franchise leadership forums, ensuring evidence and reimbursement perspectives are embedded in portfolio planning, strategic decisions, and commercialization priorities.
- Build strong partnerships across Marketing, Clinical, Sales Leadership, National Accounts, the in-house Reimbursement function, and regional HEMA colleagues to align on access strategy and execution.
- Engage with regional HEMA teams to anticipate international market needs, share U.S. insights, and connect them with resources to advance their HEMA strategies in their regions.
- Elevate the role of HEMA as a business-critical partner by proactively shaping cross-functional discussions and influencing senior stakeholders.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, or consulting with a focus on health economics, outcomes research, reimbursement strategy, market access, or strategic marketing/commercialization.
- Strong market research, HEOR, or data analytics background with the ability to critically evaluate study design, interpret outputs, and guide evidence priorities (execution supported by analytic partners such as Corporate HEOR and Analytic HEMA).
- Demonstrated understanding of the U.S. healthcare reimbursement and policy landscape, with exposure to global payer environments.
- Proven success in partnering with commercial functions (Marketing, Sales Leadership, National Accounts) to integrate evidence and reimbursement insights into commercialization strategies.
- Ability to translate complex analytic and clinical findings into clear, payer-relevant insights and value messaging for payers, providers, policymakers, and executives.
- Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment, balancing multiple priorities and building alignment across functions.
- Domestic and limited international travel is estimated at 20%.
Preferred qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Master’s or higher) in health economics, public health, health policy, healthcare administration, health services research, business (MBA), or a related analytics/strategic discipline.
- Experience applying strategic commercial or market access analysis to shape business decisions and guide reimbursement strategy.
- Familiarity with urology, neuromodulation, or related therapeutic areas.
- Demonstrated success in shaping reimbursement or policy strategies that expand patient access.
- Experience representing HEMA in franchise leadership forums, payer/provider engagements, or global collaborations.
