About the role:
The Senior Manager, Editorial Strategy and Content Generation will develop strategic communications plans and materials to enhance the reputation of Boston Scientific as a leading global health care organization. This individual will collaborate with internal, regional and cross-functional teams and agency partners to create stories that demonstrate the company mission and values in action and amplify content across communications channels. Content will include proactive storytelling through owned and paid media, and executive communications. This role reports to the Director, Corporate Communications.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead content creation across communications function and workstreams that translates strategic business objectives, accomplishments and messaging into compelling, big-picture storylines and editorial features that advance corporate reputation and brand perceptions with target audiences.
  • Ensure strategic alignment with company reputational pillars to manage editorial strategy from development to execution, including curating content, establishing content calendar for corporate channels, managing reviews, scheduling, distribution, and performance measurement across platforms and channels.
  • Create and lead news-gathering processes to source global content across Boston Scientific functions and teams. Establish relationships with company subject matter experts and connect external data and trends in the health care industry to inform storytelling.
  • Collaborate with cross functional communications colleagues, including internal communications, media relations, executive communications, social media and web development to define, drive and implement integrated editorial plans.
  • Write and produce compelling content across diverse formats and channels, including articles, bylines, social media, website content, videos, infographics, etc.
  • Provide oversight and project management to internal content contributors.
  • Provide clear direction, ongoing feedback and ensure budget alignment with agency and freelance partners.
  • Prepare executive communications including presentations, talking points, internal messages, social media posts and long-form content. 
  • Maintain awareness and understanding of industry trends and editorial best practices and share ideas and insights with Corporate Communications team to consistently improve editorial strategy.


Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent. 
  • 7+ years communications experience within a corporate or agency environment. 
  • Ability to define, shape and implement editorial plans in ambiguity. Ability to influence without authority.
  • Demonstrates in-depth understanding of target audience, highly effective writing style and expertise in high-impact messaging to broad audiences. 
  • Ability to articulate complex information in simple and relatable terms. 
  • Solid understanding and familiarity with new and emerging communications tools and digital channels; demonstrated knowledge of social media and video production.
  • Broad experience developing and executing strategic communications plans and correlating metrics.
  • Demonstrates business acumen and fluency in topical health care news and industry trends, as well as a deep understanding of public perception and issues as they pertain to the industry. 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in previous editorial role or managing content generation across channels to reach diverse stakeholders is preferred.  
  • Health care experience within the life sciences industry strongly preferred.
  • Keen sense of judgment, able to identify relevant and trending topics ahead of the curve, with journalistic skills to tell meaningful stories.
  • Self-starter, motivated, with a strong bias for finding solutions. 
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented and outstanding follow-through skills. 
  • Ability to work well under pressure, with demonstrated success at working under deadlines with tight timeframes. 
  • Regarded as a proven and respected communications consultant to key leaders within an organization.
  • Excellent written, oral and visual communication skills.
