About the role:

Magellan is a global business transformation program accompanying a move of our ERP system from SAP ECC to S4 HANA. Magellan’s goal is to simplify, standardize and modernize our core business processes, enabling BSC to better leverage the power of data and to position our business for profitable and sustainable growth.

As the Senior Manager, Enterprise Data Governance, you will play a key role in ensuring the successful Business Transformation across the BSC network. This is a key role, reporting to the Director Master Data Management/Governance, collaborating with the Magellan Workstreams, Strategic Integration Vendors, BSC BPL, SME, COP teams and Stakeholders across the network.  The Magellan Program is projected to be approximately a 3 to 4-year initiative, spanning from: Solution Confirmation, Pre -Project Portfolio Surge activity, Requirements, Design, Build and Testing, Deployment to Post Go Live Sustaining/Hypercare.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with respective Process Owners to define data policies, standards and Processes for Master Data Management, Data Quality & Data Distribution.
  • Determine how data is defined, collected, quality assured and reported.
  • Provide leadership, direction and overall data domain subject expertise in support of the governance and stewardship of the data domains in scope – Customer, Vendor, Product and Finance.  
  • The Magellan Program will operate as a Scalable Agile ERP Team. The role of EDG (Enterprise Data Governance) Manager: representing End Users, translates Requirements to the team, evaluates Business User Stories and prioritizes Requirements to the Team.
  • The role requires strong collaboration skills, participating in Release Planning for Deployment, Sprint Planning and User Acceptance.
  • This is a Project leadership role, initially developing the Magellan Master Data Management Team for Foundational Project Pre Requisites, Solution Confirmation and supporting the development of the Agile ERP Team.
  • Liaising with other Magellan Workstreams to ensure integration with the overall Magellan Program Management role, IT Solution Architects/ COE and consistency of the Magellan Master Data Workstream with other Magellan Workstreams and vice versa. 
  • The EDG Manager coordinates with the other Magellan Workstreams, Strategic Integration Vendors, BSC BPL’s, SME’s, Communities of Practice’s and Stakeholders across the network to deliver Business Transformation, building a cross functional, network-wide, team and collaborative matrix organization, to deliver the Magellan Master Data Workstream. 
  • Aligning Requirements, monitoring project plans, communicating with Stakeholders, coordinating the Requirements, Design, Build and Testing Phase and supporting the network-wide Deployment. 
  • Proactively influencing global sites and divisional leaders in areas of new concepts, adoption of Best Practice and working to ensure understanding and translation of strategies, goals and the full scope of a Business Transformation initiative.
  • Engaging with Stakeholders to ensure User/Customer expectations are clearly defined and delivered.
  • Creating an environment that encourages: constructive feedback and coaching; and proactive developmental support for all employees.
  • Fostering an inclusive workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational and personal objectives.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science or applicable field required; Advanced degree preferred.
  • 5+ years technical professional or operational experience in medical device field required.
  • 5+ years of managerial experience.
  • Previous leadership experience of a major Program Project Management, ideally within an IT or systems environment.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Informatica and PLM systems and the broader Application Ecosystem, combined with knowledge of key business processes.
  • Ability to shape, establish, communicate and engage teams in the vision & strategy of the Magellan Program.

  • Experience of managing complex matrixed organizational structures and demonstrated capability in collaborating and influencing across such an organization

  • Previous experience of Scalable Agile Project Management and advantage and/or proven adaptability, comfortable with change and with a demonstrated ability to react and responds to a fast-changing environment.
  • Role location is flexible, with participation at Team meetings, collaborative project events, with a Boston/Minneapolis focus and on site across the BSC network.
