About the role:
Boston Scientific is looking for a dedicated and passionate storyteller to support our work to advance a healthier, more equitable world. The senior manager, Global ESG Communications will develop and execute a high-impact, integrated communication strategy and plans to increase global awareness and recognition of Boston Scientific as an environmental, social and governance (ESG) leader across key external and internal stakeholders, while demonstrating the value and impact of the company’s efforts among key stakeholders. This position is part of a team supporting the company’s enterprise ESG strategy and executive thought leadership, and reports to the director, Global ESG and Culture Communications.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Responsible for understanding the social and environmental impacts that are created by the company's operations, practices and policies, and developing global ESG communication strategies to advance the Boston Scientific brand, mission and values.
- Work within the company’s ESG framework to anticipate and proactively deliver a global content strategy that demonstrates the company’s ESG priorities through global stories and compelling content across a range of channels for internal and external stakeholders.
- Guide the strategic direction, development and execution of the company’s Performance Report, corporate responsibility website and a calendar of deliverables for ESG, working in close collaboration with the enterprise ESG team, Communications team, subject matter experts and local markets.
- Identify and influence thought leadership opportunities supporting our ESG strategy in collaboration with our corporate brand and reputation approach and priorities.
- Act as an insight-driven storyteller collaborating with leaders and subject matter experts to engage and inspire internal and external stakeholders.
- As a member of the ESG team, provide active input into the global ESG strategic planning process. Collaborate with the VP of ESG to develop Board of Directors and other key materials, as needed.
- Work closely with and manage agency partners to support strategic integrated communications that provide cohesive communications strategies and engagements across multiple communication channels.
- Monitor industry and peer trends in ESG communications to assess needs/gaps, potential areas of differentiation and future direction.
- Develop communication KPIs to measure and assess impact of communications in conjunction with other partners.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or equivalent.
- Minimum 8+ years of communications experience on the agency or client side, or direct experience in ESG, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and/or Sustainability-related communications.
- Outstanding written and verbal skills, including demonstrated ability to create authentic, strategic and relevant content that engage and inspire internal and external stakeholders across multiple channels.
- Experience in building omnichannel communications strategies and plans.
- Proven strategic communications mindset with experience delivering business results and measuring success.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations or equivalent.
- Proven experience in developing thought leadership content in ESG space.
- Creative strategic thinker with an ability to influence acceptance of new ideas and new approaches and strong collaborative decision-making skills.
- Experience in development of editorial content and plans that align to the PESO model, including working with video (storyboarding, filming & editing) and developing compelling social media content.
- Demonstrated business acumen, analytical skills and the ability to synthesize and translate findings into strategic recommendations.
- Adept at working in a fast-paced team environment while also displaying independence, initiative and a global mindset.
- Ability to maintain high productivity while balancing competing priorities.
- Strong attention to detail with big picture vision.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with quick-learning capabilities.
- Proactive and team-based approach to the role.
