About The Role:

Responsible for assessing electrical interactions of printed circuit assemblies, complex sub-assemblies, and sourced finished devices with hardware system-level requirements. Provides support in the creation, development, on-boarding, commercialization, and sustaining engineering of medical device accessory products as a Component Engineer in the Supplier Engineering department. The individual will be required to partner with system level R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Reliability, and Marketing groups to help design, develop, evaluate and troubleshoot complex components and sourced finished devices (Contract Manufacturers and OEM suppliers). This individual works independently, serves as a leader for projects, mentors junior staff and interacts cross functionally to design experiments and execute deliverables according to business needs. He/she is refining, broadening, and applying scientific expertise within and across disciplines surrounding core business principles.


Your Responsibilities Include:
 

  • Works with R&D to research, develop, design, and evaluate complex mechanical and electronic assemblies, sub-assemblies, and printed circuit assemblies for use in medical device applications.
  • Develops understanding of electronics manufacturing industry and key suppliers to drive commodity team sourcing decisions.
  • Works with suppliers around the globe to understand assembly and finished good manufacturing processes and acts as technical expert to ensure repeatable and reproducible quality/reliability during the life of the product.
  • Investigates and evaluates new and existing technologies for use in future products or improve quality/reliability of current product.
  • Interfaces with suppliers and mentors junior engineers and commodity team members to support investigation of supplied material issues or supply constraints.
  • Drives troubleshooting processes on-site at supplier facility.
  • Remains knowledgeable of technologies within functional area, technology of expertise, and in the competitive landscape (e.g. relevant literature, attending conferences/meetings); identifies new applications for existing technologies.
  • Designs/documents complex experiments/protocols (e.g. DOE) to align with project goals, both internal and external; executes independently and directs junior staff with execution; develops experimental path to meet POTC.
  • Serves as a liaison between function and core team; compiles experimental results and communicates them to core team; communicates resulting impact of the data to project team; typically serves on projects of higher impact.
  • Identifies what resources are required to meet project milestones; makes recommendations to team leader.
  • In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
     


What we’re looking for:
 

Required Qualifications
 

  • 5 – 7 yrs. experience with Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred)
  • 3 – 5 yrs. experience with Master’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred)
  • Excellent project management skills are a must.
  • Strong bias for action and results orientation is critical.
  • Individual must be self-driven and self-motivated to learn and use that knowledge to produce results.
  • Good understanding of statistical methods, six sigma methodologies, DOE, previous experience in designing assemblies or components.

 

Preferred Qualifications 
 

  • Previous experience in working with suppliers is preferred.
  • Previous experience with electronics manufacturing is preferred.
