About the role:

 

Boston Scientific Corporation (BSC) is actively seeking a Vice President, PMO and Business Strategy - Urology, to drive internal as well as external R&D initiatives and align portfolio strategies with business objectives.

 

Reporting to the Group VP, Urology, this role offers a unique opportunity for a dynamic global leader to oversee program management and guide business strategy within the Urology division. Well-qualified candidates will demonstrate innovative thinking, a robust technical background, strong prior commercial business experience as well as program management experience, and the ability to foster strategic stakeholder relationships.

 

This role is a hybrid opportunity with the option to work 3 days onsite from our Marlborough, MA, or Minnetonka, MN office locations.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

Strategy & Portfolio:

  • Lead the development and implementation of the organization's portfolio strategy, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives and market needs.
  • Oversee the prioritization of programs and initiatives to maximize business impact and resource utilization.
  • Align portfolio strategies with market trends and technological advancements to maintain a competitive edge.

 

Program Management Office (PMO) Leadership:

  • Provide an independent voice overseeing new product development, ensuring programs deliver on their mission  - on time, within scope, and on budget while adhering to BSC’s Quality Policy.
  • Establish and maintain project management standards, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve project management processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Recruit, develop, inspire and retain Next Level “mission leaders” to lead BSC Urology through the next phase of global growth

 

Business Excellence:

  • Drive core business processes (e.g., Strategic Plan, Annual Operating Plan) within the Urology division.
  • Act as a constructive challenger to the Management Board, driving informed decision-making and risk exposure while avoiding ‘success theater.’
  • Ensure continuous improvement and operational excellence in on-market business activities.

 

Business & Commercial Acumen:

  • Demonstrate clear global business experience and commercial acumen specific to the Medtech space.
  • Understand and navigate the complexities of the global Medtech market to drive strategic decisions and initiatives.

 

Business Challenge and Innovation:

  • Act as a critical challenger to business leaders, advocating for new approaches and questioning existing paradigms.
  • Promote innovative solutions and forward-thinking strategies to keep the organization at the forefront of the industry.

 

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Engage with key internal and external stakeholders continuously to gather insights and build advocacy.
  • Ensure strategic initiatives are well-supported and effectively communicated across Urology leadership.
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders to drive alignment and support for business objectives.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, project management, or another relevant field.
  • 15+ years of experience, including strategy, strategic program management and commercial leadership in a large global matrix organization.
  • Extensive global experience in product development and innovation processes, with a strong understanding of R&D and engineering concepts.
  • Exhibited business experience and commercial awareness with a global perspective.
  • Deep understanding of industry trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (up to 25%).

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or life sciences field.
  • Advanced degree in business management.
  • Experience in medical device, biopharmaceutical, or another highly regulated industry.
