About the role:

The tech writer will work as a team member on product development or other technology projects to bring clarity and consistency to documents through accurate and concise writing and effective use of document format. In summary, this tech writer will lead, write, revise, organize, plan, summarize, edit, and proofread product labeling documents and maintain project records.


Your responsibilities include:

  • Manage, organize, and communicate labeling project information, project activities, and report on status based on prioritization from the division including Sustaining Alignment Meetings (SAM), Product Investment Board (PIB), and management.
  • Coordinate labeling content and deliverables based on input from the subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Co-author or contribute to the creation and revision of Product Labeling deliverables including but not limited to Directions for Use (DFU), User Guides, Patient Manuals, carton labels, pouch labels, shelf carton artwork, etc.
  • Clearly and correctly state and summarize technical information and data in product labeling.
  • Know and apply corporate documentation, regulatory (FDA, notified body, etc.) requirements, and international standards.
  • Interface cross-functionally within the product development team to acquire source material for product labeling.
  • Develop an understanding of the products and the design controls process.
  • Plan product labeling documents and create drafts for the team to review.
  • Make suggestions or corrections when appropriate in order to make a document more clear and concise.
  • Participate in or lead department projects.
  • Initiate Windchill peer reviews and change notices for product labeling.
  • Manage the project records during development.

What we’re looking for in you:

Basic Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in technical communication, technical writing, English or other technical field or 2-year vocational tech degree
  • 7 to 12 years medical device manufacturing product labeling
  • Expert in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign) with strong word processing and desktop publishing skills
  • Document control process knowledge
  • Strong technical writing and editing experience
  • Experience managing multiple large-scope projects
  • Understanding of medical device labeling regulations and standards or other regulated industry
  • Positive, professional attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Database or content management 
  • Strong project management skills – focused, highly organized, efficient time management, meets deadlines
  • Detail oriented and thorough
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Customer focused, highly collaborative globally
  • High level of experience in word processing software and interfacing with multiple software programs
  • Ability to summarize complex, technical information into basic work instructions, including pictorial representations
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and documents
  • Ability to mentor other technical writers
