ABOUT THE ROLE
Our Rhythm Management training team is made up of passionate and dedicated professionals who support the delivery of the most advanced medical technologies to patients in need to ensure patients of Boston Scientific achieve the best possible outcomes. Through active engagement and education of the sales team, including onboarding and continuous education, you enable the team to collaborate extensively with leading healthcare professionals which have an impact on individual lives - one patient at a time.
The Senior Clinical Educator (SCE) is responsible for leading the training for the Electrophysiology team. This includes ensuring our team are trained utilising the curriculum, resources and tools for the Electrophysiology new hire training program, as well as delivering classroom and workshop training (virtual and face-to-face). The SCE works with marketing and sales to develop and deliver new product training to the field. In addition, monitoring and evaluating employee product and clinical training needs ensures the ongoing development of employees' ability to meet customer and product technology demands of Rhythm Management.
This role reports to the Business Development Manager – Electrophysiology – ANZ.
WHAT WILL YOU BE REPONSIBLE FOR?
Core responsibilities:
Establish and Lead the Internal EP Team Training Programs – Internal Focus
- Overall Objectives and Deliverables
- Establish and maintain training records in the Boston Scientific Learning Management System
- Liaise internally within BSC to understand and utilize training materials. Seek external resources where appropriate. Utilise education resources as needed (eg. heart models, simulators etc).
- Develop, facilitate and deliver classroom and online program content to training program participants, ensuring training is delivered as per planned process and schedule.
- New employees skill level assessed and training plan developed based on needs.
- Regularly coordinating with program participants, field staff and other departments to solicit feedback on training effectiveness and ensure program suitability.
- Establishing, as well as with external vendors, to benchmark and ensure course content, structure and delivery remains relevant.
- Investigating effectiveness of delivery platforms available (online, virtual etc) and making recommendations for alternative delivery methods that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of EP training in ANZ.
Program Development and Delivery – Technical
- As outlined above however specific technical training focus (however subject to change based on product evolution):
- Single Shot Technologies for the treatment of Atrial Fibrillation
- Utilising existing tools, and developing enhanced tools where required, you will:
- Deliver product training to new EP team members to required competence levels for FARAPULSE and POLARx
- Develop, maintain and deliver electronic training platforms to enhance team knowledge and understanding of AF and BSC’s Single Shot therapies
- Develop/Maintain superior clinical knowledge of Pulsed Field Ablation and Cryoablation including a deep understanding of the biophysics of PFA
- Utilising existing tools, and developing enhanced tools where required, you will:
- RHYTHMIA 3D Mapping
- Develop a robust training program for the RHYTHMIA 3D Mapping System
- Establish relationships across the Boston Scientific global EP training network to ensure content and structure can progress BSC EP team to competence
- Work with External centres of excellence to augment learning, and develop a competency framework
- Develop a training program (in conjunction with global training leaders) for FARAPULSE/RHYTHMIA integration for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Utilising COE customers, global training materials on electronic and other platforms
- Develop a robust training program for the RHYTHMIA 3D Mapping System
- Access Solutions for transseptal crossing
- Learn and deliver the clinical content of the Access Solutions portfolio for transseptal crossing
- Develop a deep understanding of transseptal techniques and how the Access Solutions products address needs in the market
- Deliver training programs both internally and externally where required to certify BSC team members so they can train their customers
- Core Ablation and Diagnostic Catheters
- Ensure competency of the BSC ablation and diagnostic catheter portfolio
Employee Training Assessment and Evaluation
- Establish a process to evaluate product training needs of EP employees by assessing employee's knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) against needs of job. Identifying KSA gaps where training is a solution to ensure on-going development of employees' ability to meet customer and product technology demands. Makes recommendations to leadership based on evaluation.
- Develop systems and processes that facilitate the transition from classroom theory to in-field application of knowledge for trainees.
- Partnering with Regional Managers to monitor new hire progression throughout training and provides recommendations for completion
- Ensuring new employee participation and progress is tracked to support ongoing development throughout the training cycle.
- Escalates concerns regarding participant’s progress and skill attainment
Customer Training Programs – External Focus
- Execute the strategy of engaging EP fellows through training and education programs.
- Develop materials based on needs analysis (eg. training courses, online materials, hands on facilitated training sessions etc).
- Execute the training plans.
- For example, teach the EP fellows across ANZ and provide a training program for PFA.
- Coordination with the CSANZ and individual Fellows training programs across ANZ
- Content to be world leading in the discipline of Pulsed Field Ablation
- Having Fellows gain access to BSC’s latest training programs worldwide
- Provide feedback as well as insights from customer training events to help facilitate clinical support independence
Clinical Support
- Act as a back-up resource in providing scheduled and on call clinical support to the EP team as required. This may also include ad hoc support out of business hours.
Safety
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees, customers, contractors etc
- Promote safe work practices to all employees
- Raise safety concerns and action safety issues in accordance with polices.

- Undertakes all other duties and projects within Rhythm Management as may be assigned from time to time

- Have superior knowledge in the field of Electrophysiology and has strong relationships with ANZ Cardiac Electrophysiologists
- Understanding of EP recording systems and how these are essential in the diagnosis of cardiac arrhythmias

- FARAPULSE™ Pulsed Field Ablation System
- POLARx™ Cryoablation System
- LABSYSTEM PRO™ EP Recording system
