This is a U.S. Field Based Position supporting the South region of the United States (TX, OK, NM, AR). Candidates must be willing to travel, and be located close to major airport.


About the role:
This is a Senior Manager role within our Health Economics and Market Analysis team supporting Boston Scientific’s rapidly growing Neuromodulation business.  A fundamental priority for this position will be supporting customers with understanding the economics associated with Boston Scientific Neuromodulation technologies, appropriately documenting indications, procedures and related costs, and supporting reimbursement authorizations and appeals of denied authorization requests or claims. The Senior Manager of Field HEMA will also support the field sales organization in the differentiation and promotion of Boston Scientific Neuromodulation devices with clinical and economic data to positively influence business objectives. 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementation of reimbursement and health economics activities for BSC working with divisional staff and key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Development and execution of practical strategies to secure optimal reimbursement for BSC products and procedures.
  • Identification of key health economics needs for BSC platform products, working with health economics and outcomes research colleagues to determine actions required.
  • Support of field sales teams in realizing opportunities and overcoming challenges experienced by customers utilizing a division’s emerging technologies and commercially marketed products, suggesting the use of specific economic tools when appropriate.
  • Engagement with regional payers to support appropriate coverage and payment for divisional technologies.
  • Provision of reimbursement and economic support to sales force and key external stakeholders (e.g., hospitals, clinicians, investigator sites, professional societies) as appropriate.
  • Provision of appropriate in-service training to sales and customers to increase awareness and understanding of appropriate documentation of procedures and their related costs.
  • Monitor policy developments that impact the reimbursement of BSC products.
  • Building relationships in assigned markets with government, physician, hospital, and third-party payer decision makers.
  • Work collaboratively with “in house” health economics and market access team members to provide input on strategies and tool development.
  • Travel estimated up to 50%.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years working in the delivery and/or administration of healthcare or the medical device industry
  • Understanding and application of principles and concepts in health economics, reimbursement and/or market access and be capable of articulating the current and future market access landscape and managing processes requiring multiple information inputs.
  • Understanding of hospital, ambulatory surgery center and physician office financial systems and management practices.
  • Experience presenting health economic information to both large and small groups in a way that is both easy to understand, credible, and engages the audience.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical skills and experience working with various internal business partners (especially Sales, Sales Training, Marketing, and Clinical).
  • Knowledge of US health care policy and payment systems, including Medicare and commercial payers, in the inpatient and outpatient, and ASC sites of service.
  • Experience working with local and regional payers to secure appropriate coverage and payment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • An advanced degree such as an MBA, MPH or MHA in health policy, health economics, healthcare administration, health services research, or similar discipline is desired, but not required.
  • Experience in the Neuromodulation specialties.
  • Sales training, sales management or prior sales experience.
  • Ability to train sales team members both individually and in group settings in the use of economic tools such as calculators, presentations, and messaging in a compliant manner.
  • Experience and comfort with complex concept sales processes involving changes in customer behavior or care-pathways.
