About the role:

The Director, Therapy Awareness is a senior commercial leader responsible for driving regional and enterprise-level referral growth, therapy adoption, and market expansion aligned with Boston Scientific’s strategic priorities. This role provides strategic direction and operational leadership to Therapy Awareness Regional Managers (TAMs) and Therapy Awareness Representatives (TARs), ensuring scalable execution of patient pathway development, therapy education initiatives, and referral optimization.

 

The Director partners closely with Sales Leadership, Marketing, Market Access, Clinical, Sales Operations, Finance, and Compliance to build sustainable referral ecosystems, accelerate therapy penetration, and position Boston Scientific as the partner of choice within the cardiovascular community. This leader plays a critical role in shaping national strategy, building organizational capability, and delivering measurable business impact.

 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

Strategic Leadership & Market Development

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, multi-year therapy awareness strategy aligned with Rhythm Solutions and enterprise commercial objectives.
  • Drive regional and national referral growth initiatives to expand patient access and increase therapy adoption.
  • Identify emerging market trends, competitive dynamics, and referral pathway barriers to proactively adapt strategy.
  • Lead expansion planning, territory optimization, and resource deployment to maximize ROI and patient funnel development.
  • Establish scalable best practices for referral pathway development, program implementation, and community engagement.

 

Commercial & Business Management

  • Own national performance metrics including referral growth, therapy awareness program ROI, funnel conversion, and resource utilization.
  • Provide executive-level business reviews, quarterly impact analyses, and strategic updates to senior leadership.
  • Integrate territory and regional plans into a cohesive, data-driven operating model.
  • Ensure disciplined expense management and alignment of investments with strategic priorities.
  • Partner with Sales Operations to develop dashboards and performance tracking tools that measure impact beyond traditional sales metrics.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance and regulatory policies related to medical education, therapy awareness programming, and customer engagement.

 

Organizational Leadership & Talent Development

  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing leaders and representatives.
  • Build leadership capability within TAMs through coaching, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Foster a diverse, inclusive, and high-accountability culture that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Establish standardized onboarding and ongoing professional development programs to elevate clinical, economic, and strategic competencies.
  • Serve as a role model for ethical leadership and enterprise collaboration.

 

Cross-Functional Partnership & Enterprise Influence

  • Collaborate with Marketing to shape therapy awareness campaigns, educational programming, and promotional materials.
  • Partner with Market Access to address coverage dynamics, reimbursement barriers, and economic objections.
  • Work closely with Sales Leadership to ensure alignment between therapy awareness initiatives and field execution.
  • Engage Clinical and Medical Affairs to strengthen evidence-based messaging and differentiate product portfolio.
  • Represent Therapy Awareness initiatives in national sales meetings, leadership forums, and cross-divisional strategy sessions.

 

Clinical & Economic Excellence

  • Ensure organizational mastery of disease state education, clinical evidence, and competitive differentiation.
  • Lead development of value-based messaging and economic impact narratives tailored to referring physicians, implanting providers, and health systems.
  • Drive identification and sharing of referral pathway best practices to improve patient funnel efficiency.
  • Evaluate opportunities through both customer impact and long-term divisional growth lenses.

 

Customer Relationships

  • Maintain executive-level relationships with key accounts, implanters, referring physicians, and health system stakeholders.
  • Support the development and expansion of Watchman-related educational forums and professional programs.
  • Participate in and represent Boston Scientific at customer, company, and industry-sponsored events.
  • Position Boston Scientific as a strategic partner in building sustainable cardiovascular care pathways.

 

 

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive commercial experience in cardiology, cardiovascular, or medical device sales.
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales leadership experience with demonstrated success leading teams with a culture of engagement and accountability.
  • Proven track record of driving referral growth, therapy adoption, and sustainable market expansion.
  • Strong strategic thinking, financial acumen, and analytical capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority across matrixed organizations.
  • Exceptional communication, executive presence, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of organizational agility and ability to manage multiple strategic priorities.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA or advanced graduate degree.
  • Experience leading multi-region or national commercial initiatives.
  • Demonstrated success building scalable programs across diverse healthcare systems.
  • Experience with reimbursement strategy, coverage dynamics, and value-based healthcare discussions.

The anticipated annualized base amount or range for this full time position will be $120,000.00, plus variable compensation governed by the Sales Incentive Compensation Plan (which includes certain annual non-discretionary incentives based on predetermined objectives) as well as the value of core and optional benefits offered at BSC, which can be reviewed at www.bscbenefitsconnect.com. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, and other relevant business or organizational needs.
