About the Role: 

This role supports key commercialized products by developing and executing clinical research activities using real-world data (RWD) to drive long-term evidence strategies and fulfill regulatory post-market obligations. The role involves designing studies using non-clinical trial data sources, building study cohorts through data mapping, and collaborating cross-functionally to ensure research scope alignment and successful execution.

At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week at our BSC location

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the strategic growth of the Urology team’s Real-World Evidence (RWE) capabilities and demonstrating ROI from new clinical data sources
  • Contributing to study designs using administrative claims, Electronic Health Records (EHR), and other RWE sources by applying clinical research methodologies (e.g., research question development, inclusion/exclusion criteria, bias reduction)
  • Developing medical code sets using reimbursement codes (ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT) and medical terminologies (SNOMED, LOINC, RxNorm) to define patient populations, outcomes, and covariates
  • Executing RWE studies through programming, statistical analysis, data visualization, and interpretation
  • Supporting post-market documentation, publications, and related deliverables
  • Collaborating with Clinical Strategy, Scientific Communications, Biostatistics, Medical Safety, Legal, Compliance, and external stakeholders (e.g., KOLs, HCPs)
  • Leading core teams to deliver project materials on time and within scope
  • Participating in process improvement initiatives to support Urology VIP goals
  • Supporting Investigator Sponsored Research (ISR) coordination tasks (estimated 0–10% of responsibilities)

     

 

Required qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience (e.g., clinical informatics, epidemiology, urology medical coding, clinical research, data science, health economics, or medical affairs) OR  advanced degree (PhD, research-based MS, MD, RN, or DVM) in a related field
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in the medical device or clinical field, particularly in Urology
  • Experience in retrospective research design using RWD, including claims data (with Charge Master Data) and/or EHR data
  • Familiarity with medical coding systems and terminologies (ICD-9/10, CPT, etc.)
  • Proficiency in R, Python, or similar tools for large-scale data analysis
  • Experience with relational data modeling and SQL querying
  • Scientific writing experience
  • Physician-facing experience

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for exempt, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
