Supplier Engineer II
 

 

 

Based on experience and qualification, this position could be adjusted to Engineer level I or Senior Engineer level.

 

 

About the Role:

 

This job concentrates on supplier process changes, design improvements, and technical support for purchased components. Evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, and procedures on supplied components and supplier manufacturing processes. Acts as liaison between suppliers and BSC production units to execute supplier/BSC initiated changes, as well as resolving technical problems encountered in the supply chain.  

 

Your Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Crafts plans and executes plans to support supply chain objectives, conducts supplied material risk assessement, proactively execute risk mitigation measures to ensure continuity of component supply to BSC manufacturing
  • Works with the supplier and executes process validation and test method validation. Partners with suppliers to define their process, tools, equipment and ongoing controls.
  • Interfaces with suppliers to support investigation of supplied material issues or supply/capacity constraints. 
  • Partners with manufacturing, quality engineering, regulatory, and R&D, global sourcing commercial and/or direct purchasing to resolve supplied component-related issues
  • Participates in project teams with cross functional team members to qualify and improve supplier manufacturing processes and inspection methods.
  • In every situation, actively recognizes material cost reduction opportunities. Identifies, initiates and executes material cost reduction projects (MVIP) per division and plant goals.
  • Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project or in a total project of moderate scope.
  • Assists in troubleshooting processes on-site at supplier facility
  • Works with R&D to research, develop, and evaluate component design requirements and incorporates them into supplier process output.

 

 

What We’re Looking For:

 

Required Qualifications

 

  • B.S. in Engineering (or Science)
  • 2-5 years of engineering experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Knowledge of BSC products and processes is a plus
  • Experience in plastics materials (resins, extrusion, injection molding) is a plus
  • Familiar with analytical techniques commonly used to investigate component defects.
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong bias for action and results orientation is critical
  • Individual must be self-driven and self-motivated to learn and use that knowledge to produce results
  • Good understanding of problem-solving methodologies and tools
  • Previous experience in in working with suppliers, component qualification, test method validation, product/process changes/validation, and SCIA processes.
