About the role:

This technical writer will work as a team member on product development and other projects to bring clarity and consistency to documents through accurate and concise writing and effective use of document formating. This technical writer will organize, plan, write, revise, summarize, edit, review, and proofread technical engineering documents and maintain project records.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate with subject matter experts to develop clear physician-facing and customer-facing technical content about medical devices and their use. This includes but is not limited to the creation of instructions for use or directions for use, patient guides, patient leaflets, patient implant cards.
  • Manage and direct centralized, off-shore resources to realize project deliverables. Review the work of these teams.
  • Determine requirements for product labels’ content and physical characteristics.
  • Maintain consistent application of corporate branding aesthetics.
  • Edit technical content.
  • Manage, organize, and communicate project information, project activities and status.
  • Apply corporate and regulatory documentation requirements.
  • Interact with third party translators to manage the translation of English documents into other languages.
  • Clearly and correctly state and summarize technical information and conclusions.
  • Participate in or lead department projects.
  • Interface cross-functionally within the product development team and test lab resources to acquire source material for documents and to develop understanding of the products and processes.
  • Initiate document Change Notice approvals.
  • Manage the project records during development.
  • Review and provide input on Design Verification Protocols and Reports, Standards Compliance Checklists, Departmental Standard Operating Procedures etc.

 

What we’re looking for in you:

Basic Qualifications

  • 4-year degree in technical communication, technical writing, English or other technical field or 2-year vocational tech degree
  • 7 to 12 years medical device manufacturing product labeling
  • Expert in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign) with strong word processing and desktop publishing skills
  • Document control process knowledge
  • Strong technical writing and editing experience
  • Experience managing multiple large-scope projects
  • Understanding of medical device labeling regulations and standards or other regulated industry
  • Positive, professional attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Database or content management 
  • Strong project management skills – focused, highly organized, efficient time management, meets deadlines
  • Detail oriented and thorough
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Customer focused, highly collaborative globally
  • High level of experience in word processing software and interfacing with multiple software programs
  • Ability to summarize complex, technical information into basic work instructions, including pictorial representations
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and documents
  • Ability to mentor other technical writers
