About the role

 

Boston Scientific is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to grow and support the health, safety and environmental systems and culture at our Access Solutions franchise in Mississauga, Canada.  Boston Scientific is dedicated to transforming lives through innovative medical solutions that improve the health of patients around the world.  This is a hybrid work role that enables some work from home and some onsite work supporting design laboratories, office and manufacturing operations for life-saving medical devices.

 

Please note that this is a 1-year contract position with a possibility of extension.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting occupational health & safety and environmental programs.
  • Incident Response and first aid.
  • Review of tooling and equipment.
  • Ergonomic assessments and initiatives.
  • Hazard analysis risk assessment.
  • WSIB claims reporting and return to work management.
  • Policy, procedures and training.
  • Reporting HSE measures, problem breakdown and improvement actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all internal and external standards.
  • Manage occupational health and safety committee(s) (meetings, inspections).
  • Participate and facilitate benchmarking and best practice sessions with partners.
  • Reinforcement of the HSE culture in Access Solutions.
  • Adhere to all requirements of the Quality Management System. 
  • Demonstrate company values, work with integrity, and be a supportive corporate member. 
  • Comply with the Health & Safety policies of the company and inform Management of unsafe working conditions. 
  • Other duties as required. 
     

Required qualifications:

  • 2+ years of practical experience in occupational health and safety with knowledge of health and safety legislation and health and safety program elements
  • Post-secondary education in related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of key elements of an HSE program including ISO 45001, 14001 and OSHAS 18001 standards
  • Willing to seek accreditation as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or a Certified Health and Safety Consultant (SHSC) within a reasonable amount of time
  • Ability to travel between local Access Solutions buildings in Mississauga

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Proven analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to facilitate, train and coach.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and tact in resolving issues that require a high degree of discretion due to the sensitive / confidential information involved
  • Highly motivated with exceptional organization and prioritization skills

Maximum Salary: $113700 

 

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) – see www.bscbenefitsconnect.com--will vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for hourly, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for salaried, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for sales roles is governed by Sales Incentive Compensation Plan (which includes certain annual non-discretionary incentives based on predetermined objectives).
