About the role
 

We are currently seeking a Process Development Manager to lead our Advance Technologies Team. This position’s primary responsibilities include leading a team of process engineers in advancing new processes, and technologies across one or more divisions. You will oversee the development and management of the people and processes required to ensure functional excellence and delivery of robust, scalable, high-quality manufacturing processes to divisional and operations customers. You will be a mentor who will help strengthen the technical rigor of the team by leveraging your strong foundation and experience in technology development and process innovation, optimization and design for manufacturing. You will be leading collaborations with various departments locally and across the global Boston Scientific global network to bring technical solutions to life.

 

The is a hybrid role with occasional travel as deemed necessary. 

 

Your responsibilities will include:  

  • Lead engineering teams to develop highly capable, scalable, and robust manufacturing processes, and successfully transfer into operations.
  • Recruit, coach, develop organizational talent.
  • Create an inclusive, high-performance, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Build strategic partnerships and effectively collaborate cross-functionally to further departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Serves as a technical resource and provides on-going feedback and coaching to direct reports and PD project team.
  • Drive complex or novel assignments requiring the development of innovative processes and process characterization methodologies for existing and new technologies.
  • Work is expected to result in the development of new or refined technologies, products, materials, processes, equipment, and/or scientific methods and may broaden BSC’s Intellectual Property in key strategic areas. 
  • Lead engineers as analyze and solve problems from engineering principles, theories and concepts to a wide range of complex and advanced problems requiring novel and new innovative approaches or a major technology breakthrough. 
  • Collaborate with other Process Development Leaders and Technical Resources in technology development.
  • Influence decisions around alternative engineering processes, products, or equipment. 
  • Mentor employees by sharing technical expertise and providing feedback and guidance. 
  • Interact cross functionally and with internal and external customers.  Serve as a consultant for engineering or scientific interpretations.
  • Mentorship and coaching of early-career team members to elevate capabilities of the team.
  • Contribution to IP portfolio, including development of invention disclosures and patent applications.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline 
  • 3+ years experience in a technical leader role
  • 7+ years of experience in engineering or related fields
  • Experience training and mentoring engineers in problem solving and process improvement tools. 
  • Strong statistical background 
  • Knowledge and ability to teach Design of Experiments  
  • Experience performing multiple process characterizations across various technologies 
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence a highly technical group
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for multiple levels of an organization
  • Experience engaging with clinicians to gain direction and product feedback
  • Ability to work in an inclusive, collaborative and fast-paced environment with minimal direction, including on global teams
  • Working knowledge of relevant medical device regulations and guidance (e.g., ISO 13484, ISO 14971, IEC 60601)
  • Ability to travel (~10%) domestically and internationally
