About the role:
The Process Technician I will be responsible for providing process engineering support for the Process Development teams.
Utilizing their technical skills in the generation and development of medical device products and process technologies, they will be a key contributor to the Process Development process teams, developing / conducting: manufacturing protocol, product testing, troubleshooting, and carrying out non-routine technical assignments. In addition, they will maintain and manage the process lab space.
The Process Technician has excellent hands-on skills and soft skills such as computer documentation and test data collection, and capable of handling assignments which involve a variety of procedures and techniques.
Please note that this is a 1-year contract role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Contribute to the design of new products by providing feedback that would make manufacturing with novel solutions.
- Apply creativity and technical problem-solving skills to design and operational challenges associated with the process design, product testing and testing/designing equipment and tooling.
- Conduct product testing and data collection e.g., lab testing (tensile, torque, leak, preconditioning).
- In conjunction with the lab manager, take charge of the process lab space by applying practical knowledge of 5s and other lean 6σ practices.
- Clearly applies knowledge of the design, process and manufacturing controls associated with the BSC Quality Management System.
- Support equipment and tooling, and the technical needs of Process Development.
- Manages small to medium projects, usually within the needs of Process Development; minimal cross-functional departmental work.
- Manufacture R&D concept phase devices.
- Assist Process engineers & R&D engineers in developing manufacturing processes.
- Self-directed to deal with internal and external requests.
- Other duties as required.
Required qualifications:
- Secondary school diploma
- Minimum 2 years of work experience
- Good analytical and communication skills (written and oral)
- Organization and time management skills
- Comprehension of GDP
- Desire to learn new skills required for new responsibilities as the products/processes develop/change
- Ability and willingness to travel 2–3 times per year for durations of 2+ weeks at a time, likely to Costa Rica and/or the USA
Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of 5S
- MS Office experience
- Product testing experience

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.
Compensation for hourly, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
Compensation for salaried, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
Compensation for sales roles is governed by Sales Incentive Compensation Plan (which includes certain annual non-discretionary incentives based on predetermined objectives).
