About the role:
This position is not for machine operators.
The scope of the role includes machine maintenance, qualification, and calibration of all injection molding related equipment in Access Solutions. Additionally, in this role, the Senior Molding Technologist will be responsible for optimizing and troubleshooting injection molding systems. The successful candidate will be capable of driving efficiencies and improve equipment productivity. This includes developing process windows, verifying the accuracy of the manufactured components against the engineering drawings by measuring dimensions using precision measuring equipment and standard tests.
Your responsibilities will include:

Production Line support
-
Conduct preventative machine maintenance and service procedures as scheduled.

Perform all Maintenance and Calibration on molding machines and ancillary equipment.

Set up, operate, repair, and maintain injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment to mold products from thermoplastic materials.

Troubleshooting and repair of any equipment issues as required.

Assemble and install molds in the injection molding machine, setup the mold and initiate the startup process (material drying, system heating)

Develop process to produce first off parts.

Test molded components to confirm they meet design specifications.

Generate test reports to capture all development work and associated testing.

Qualify Molds and Molding machines for use.

Determine and report malfunctions to the appropriate parties.

Make recommendations for productivity and/or method improvements.

Train new employees in the set-up and operation of machines
Required qualifications:
-
Proficiency in injection molding methodologies and machine maintenance.
-
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or technically related degree/diploma + experience
-
High mechanical aptitude
-
Strong machine maintenance experience
-
10+ years of experience within Injection Molding/plastic production environment
-
Experienced in the set-up, operation, and troubleshooting of plastic injection molding machines and auxiliary equipment.

Experience with electric and hydraulic molding machines
-
Experience with vertical molding machines and insert molding.
-
Understanding of continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, 5S, Kaizen, etc.)

A strong troubleshooting ability, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

Excellent organizational skills

Capable of reading and interpreting documents such as safety policy and procedures, blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

Good written and oral communication skills
