This position is a 4–12-month internship beginning in Spring or May 2023. Term length and start date will vary based on candidate's availability.

 

About the role:

In our Research & Development Engineering Department, our Engineers focus on the ideation, design, prototyping, and manufacturing transfer of cutting-edge devices for use in medical procedures. As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will work alongside our talented engineering group to design electronic boards and assemblies for a variety of capital equipment and products.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Create CAD Symbols and footprint models of parts, assemblies and equipment using either Allegro or Altium
  • Researches, develops, designs, and evaluates electrical and electro-mechanical material, components, assemblies, processes and/or equipment.
  • Schematic and PCB designs using Allegro and Altium.
  • Creates drawings in Allegro or Altium following internal Global Boston Scientific Corporation CAD standards and templates.
  • Conducts feasibility studies to verify capability and functionality.
  • Develops new concepts from initial design to market release.
  • Directs support personnel and coordinates project activities.
  • Maintains detailed documentation throughout all phases of research and development.

 

Required qualifications

  • Actively working towards a Degree in Engineering; Do not apply if you are not currently enrolled in the 2022/2023 school year
  • 1+ years of experience with CAD Software such as Allegro and Altium.
  • Strong electrical engineering simulation skills, specifically with Spice based simulations tools (ex. LTSpice).
  • Solid lab experience with circuit debugging, test fixtures development, and lab test equipment.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with power circuit design / power semiconductors and magnetic components.
  • Experience with analog circuit design.
  • Experience with low-speed digital circuit design.
  • Experience with VHDL design.
  • Experience with embedded “C” programming for the STM32 and DSPIC products.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work with a team efficiently and independently.
