About the role:

Great opportunity to be part of a fast-paced highly reputable medical device company developing lifesaving therapy. We are looking for experienced and highly motivated Sr. Firmware Test Engineer to contribute to the development and testing of a system software. The candidate will partake in new product development activities such as research, design, testing and documentation to bring products from concept to market.  


Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Design, develop and execute manual and automated test plans to ensure the quality of medical embedded software by proving system functionality and verify requirements are met.
  • Ensure that tests have been conducted in accordance with written procedures.
  • Document test results and write test reports.
  • Diagnose problems and report bugs and enhancements in a bug tracking system.
  • Participate in determining test methodology, test strategy and test setups.
  • Participate in daily scrum meetings, product review meetings, bug triage meetings, etc.
  • Work closely with software development team, hardware engineering team, field support team, and other cross-functional teams.


Required qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field with 3+ years’ experience in Software Quality Assurance for embedded software written in C/C++.
  • Proficient with scripting languages such as Python, Shell, LabVIEW, and other common automation languages.
  • Strong written and English verbal communication skills and working French communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with hardware and circuit debugging tools (Oscilloscope, Multimeter).
  • Travel:  Ability to travel up to 25%.


Preferred qualifications: 

  • A strong product quality and testing experience preferably in medical device domain or other highly regulated industry.
  • Experience with test automation.
  • A natural attention to detail and a penchant for organizing and documenting.
  • Able to think beyond requirements with a mind-set towards delivering quality product.
  • Ability to think logically and analytically in a problem-solving environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team with a variety of individuals ranging from various disciplines and backgrounds.
  • Experience with automation servers (e.g., Jenkins).
  • Experience with debugging tools (e.g., Keil, MPLAB).
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum development environment.
