About the role

The Electrical Technician will work alongside the R&D team to aid in the design process, manufacture components and build assemblies from design drawings, understand requirements, and come up with creative test scenarios in order to verify system functionality. Their main goal will be to create builds for R&D prototypes and low production quantities. They will read and execute manufacturing procedures and test protocols to ensure that internal documentation procedures are met while recording results. The individual will also evaluate, assemble, and maintain electrical/electronic systems.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing electrical design drawings and providing input on manufacturing feasibility.
  • Building wire harnesses using wire cutters, crimp tools and soldering equipment.
  • Completing mechanical builds that include electrical and mechanical components.
  • Executing manual/automated test cases to ensure the design meets the requirements.
  • Documenting test results and participate in engineering report development.
  • Reading and understanding electrical/electronic schematics and design drawings for the purposes of building, evaluating, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing components, cabling and assemblies.
  • Participating in mechanical and electrical/electronic prototype development.
  • Working with a cross-functional team to ensure project timelines are met.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or diploma in electro-technical, electronic, or related field.
  • Experience using crimping tools, soldering, drills, multimeter, oscilloscope and fault-testing equipment.
  • Technical knowledge of testing concepts for electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610 CLASS2 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 CLASS.
  • Good documentation skills.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Hipot and EMC testing.
  • Good surface mount hand soldering skills.
  • Working knowledge of electronic circuits.
  • Knowledge of automation tools and processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a team environment.
  • An analytical and quantitative approach to work.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Schematic and PCB designs using Allegro and Altium.
