About the role

The R&D Prototyping Engineer leads key operations improvement initiatives and supports the team of technicians by defining technical information pertaining to prototyping of medical devices, harnesses, and test fixtures. The R&D Prototype Development Engineer is critical to ensuring accuracy of builds. They will bring plenty of ideas to enhance the team’s agility and accuracy through implementing process and tools. They will be a team player and will work closely with Inventory, Mechanical, Test, and Systems Engineering teams.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare build information including schematics, drawings, and BOMs working with mechanical, systems, and test engineering teams to understand their needs.
  • Prepare process workflows, flowcharts, MIs and processes for building prototypes under R&D and clinical build procedures.
  • Work closely with technicians to plan technical aspects of work, support them in their questions and facilitate prototype builds.
  • Track built prototypes and coordinate traceability with the inventory and quality teams. Work closely with the R&D Inventory Lead.
  • Support the development of operational systems using various low code tools such as MS SharePoint Lists and Excel.
  • Track Equipment Assets and coordinate test qualification instructions. Coordinate equipment and fixtures/tools builds, test and release. Work closely with the quality team.
  • Identify new equipment and techniques to improve physical build processes.
  • Support day to day operational efforts such as issue resolution, HSE, and continuous improvement.
  • Take initiative to improve the Prototyping team.

 

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, industrial or similar engineering fields.
  • 2+ years of experience in a product development operations/manufacturing environment
  • Experience using BoMs, CAD, and Engineering Drawing Standards.
  • Strong command of Excel – ability to manipulate data and formulas.
  • Experience in supporting and leading work packages and CI projects.
  • Experience of engineering reviews and process such as DfM and PFMEA.
  • Experience of physical prototyping and manufacturing processes.

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing regulated medical devices.
  • Experience in introducing operations and engineering processes.
  • Experience of physical electromechanical assembly.
  • Knowledge of operations databases and/or MRP systems.
  • Experience working with CNC milling, Laser cutting, and 3D printing.

Responsabilités

  • Préparer les dossiers de fabrication, y compris les schémas, les dessins et les nomenclatures, en collaboration avec les équipes du génie mécanique, des systèmes et des essais afin de comprendre leurs besoins.
  • Préparer les flux de travail, les organigrammes, les indicateurs de performance et les processus pour la création de prototypes dans le cadre des procédures de R et D et de fabrication de dispositifs cliniques.
  • Travailler en étroite collaboration avec les techniciens pour planifier les aspects techniques du travail, répondre à leurs questions et faciliter la création de prototypes.
  • Assurer le suivi des prototypes créés et coordonner la traçabilité avec les équipes chargées des stocks et de la qualité. Travailler en étroite collaboration avec le responsable des stocks de R et D.
  • Soutenir la mise au point de systèmes opérationnels à l’aide de divers outils à programmation schématisée tels que MS SharePoint Lists et Excel.
  • Assurer le suivi des équipements et coordonner les instructions de qualification des essais. Coordonner la fabrication, les essais et la mise en service des équipements ainsi que des montages et des outils. Travailler en étroite collaboration avec l’équipe responsable de l’assurance de la qualité.
  • Rechercher de nouveaux équipements et de nouvelles techniques afin d’améliorer les processus de fabrication.
  • Soutenir les efforts opérationnels quotidiens tels que la résolution des problèmes, les questions de santé, de sécurité et d’environnement ainsi que l’amélioration continue.
  • Prendre des initiatives pour améliorer l’équipe responsable des prototypes.

Compétences requises

  • Baccalauréat en génie mécanique, électrique, industriel ou dans un domaine connexe. Une expérience professionnelle équivalente sera également prise en considération.
  • Au moins deux ans d’expérience dans le domaine du développement de produits ou dans un environnement de fabrication.
  • Expérience dans l’utilisation des nomenclatures, de la CAO et des normes de dessin technique.
  • Maîtrise d’Excel — capacité à manipuler des données et des formules.
  • Expérience en matière de soutien et de direction de lots de travaux et de projets d’amélioration continue.
  • Expérience en matière d’examens techniques et de processus tels que la conception pour la fabrication et l’analyse des modes de défaillance et de leurs effets — Processus.
  • Expérience en matière de fabrication de prototypes physiques et de processus de fabrication.

Compétences souhaitées

  • Expérience dans la fabrication de dispositifs médicaux réglementés.
  • Expérience dans l’introduction de processus d’exploitation et d’ingénierie.
  • Expérience en matière d’assemblages physiques électromécaniques.
  • Connaissance des bases de données opérationnelles ou des systèmes de PBM.

Compensation for hourly, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
