About the role
The R&D Prototyping Intern supports key operations improvement initiatives and supports the team of technicians by coordinating technical information pertaining to prototyping of medical devices, harnesses, and test fixtures. They will bring plenty of ideas to enhance the team’s agility and accuracy through implementing process and tools. They will be a team player and will work closely with Inventory, Mechanical, Test, and Systems Engineering teams. This role will help you grow to your full engineering potential.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Prepare build information including schematics, drawings, and BOMs working with mechanical, systems, and test engineering teams to understand their needs.
- Prepare process workflows, flowcharts, MIs and processes for building prototypes under R&D and clinical build procedures.
- Work closely with technicians to support technical aspects of work, support them in their questions and facilitate prototype builds.
- Support the development of operational systems using various low code tools such as MS SharePoint Lists and Excel.
- Identify new equipment and techniques to improve physical build processes.
- Support day to day operational efforts such as issue resolution, HSE, and continuous improvement.
- Take initiative to improve the Prototyping team.
- Other duties as required.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, industrial or similar engineering fields
- Experience using BoMs, CAD, and Engineering Drawing Standards
- Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills
- Strong command of Excel – ability to manipulate data and formulas
- Exceptional communication skills, fluent in both written and spoken English
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in manufacturing regulated medical devices
- Experience in introducing operations and engineering processes
- Experience of physical electromechanical assembly
- Knowledge of operations databases and/or MRP systems
- Experience working with CNC milling, Laser cutting, and 3D printing
- Experience of engineering reviews and process such as DfM and PFMEA
- Experience of physical prototyping and manufacturing processes
- Working proficiency in French

Responsabilités :
• Préparer la documentation de fabrication, y compris les schémas, les dessins et les nomenclatures (BOM), en collaboration avec les équipes de génie mécanique, des systèmes et des tests afin de bien comprendre leurs besoins.
• Élaborer des flux de processus, des organigrammes, des instructions de fabrication (IF) et des processus pour la réalisation de prototypes dans le cadre des procédures de fabrication RD et clinique.
• Travailler étroitement avec les techniciens pour les soutenir sur les aspects techniques, répondre à leurs questions et faciliter l’assemblage des prototypes.
• Soutenir le développement de systèmes opérationnels à l’aide de divers outils à faible code, tels que les listes MS SharePoint et Excel.
• Identifier de nouveaux équipements et techniques afin d’améliorer les processus physiques de fabrication.
• Appuyer les activités opérationnelles quotidiennes, notamment la résolution de problèmes, la santé, sécurité et environnement (SSE), ainsi que l’amélioration continue.
• Faire preuve d’initiative afin d’améliorer les activités de l’équipe de prototypage.
• Effectuer toute autre tâche connexe, selon les besoins.
Qualifications requises :
• Baccalauréat en génie mécanique, électrique, de fabrication, industriel ou dans un domaine connexe
• Expérience avec les nomenclatures (BOM), la CAO et les normes de dessin technique
• Excellentes compétences en organisation, en communication et en collaboration
• Maîtrise avancée d’Excel, incluant la manipulation de données et de formules
• Excellentes compétences en communication, avec une maîtrise de l’anglais écrit et parlé
Qualifications souhaitées :
• Expérience en fabrication de dispositifs médicaux réglementés
• Expérience dans la mise en place de processus opérationnels et d’ingénierie
• Expérience en assemblage électromécanique physique
• Connaissance des bases de données opérationnelles et/ou des systèmes MRP
• Expérience avec l’usinage CNC, la découpe laser et l’impression 3D
• Expérience des revues d’ingénierie et des processus tels que la conception pour la fabrication (DfM) et la PFMEA
• Expérience en prototypage physique et en procédés de fabrication
• Connaissance fonctionnelle du français
