About the role

As an R&D Test Engineer I, you will contribute to the design, validation, and continuous improvement of test systems for Boston Scientific’s cutting-edge medical devices. In this role, you will be part of the growing Electrophysiology (EP) Capital Equipment team, responsible for developing and executing comprehensive verification and validation activities for complex electrical and electromechanical systems.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyze system requirements to design and develop test plans and protocols to ensure designs meet requirements.
  • Conduct engineering and design performance tests.
  • Analyze test results, detect issues and track root causes.
  • Develop engineering and design verification test reports.
  • Work with a cross-functional team.
  • Work independently to plan and schedule own activities necessary to meet timelines and communicate in a timely manner.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or master's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in product or system development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills in a team environment.
  • An analytical and quantitative approach to work, as well as the confidence to influence people at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational, planning, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Technical knowledge of testing concepts for electrical/electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 13485 and FDA 21 CFR Part 820.
  • Knowledge of ISO 14971.
  • Knowledge of IEC 60601 series of standards.

En tant qu’ingénieur R&D en essais I, vous contribuerez à la conception, à la validation et à l’amélioration continue des systèmes d’essais pour les dispositifs médicaux de pointe de Boston Scientific. Dans ce rôle, vous ferez partie de l’équipe en pleine croissance des équipements capitaux en électrophysiologie (EP), responsable de soutenir le développement et l’exécution d’activités de vérification et de validation pour des systèmes électriques et électromécaniques complexes.

 

Vos responsabilités comprendront :

  • Analyser les exigences du système afin de concevoir et de développer des plans et des protocoles d’essais permettant d’assurer que les conceptions respectent les exigences établies.
  • Effectuer des essais d’ingénierie et de performance de conception.
  • Analyser les résultats d’essais, identifier les problèmes et assurer le suivi des causes fondamentales.
  • Élaborer des rapports d’essais de vérification en ingénierie et en conception.
  • Collaborer avec des équipes interfonctionnelles.
  • Travailler de façon autonome pour planifier et organiser vos activités afin de respecter les échéanciers, et communiquer de manière efficace et en temps opportun.

 

Qualifications requises :

  • Baccalauréat ou maîtrise en génie ou dans un domaine connexe.
  • Plus de 1 ans d’expérience en développement de produits ou de systems.
  • Solides compétences en résolution de problèmes dans un environnement de travail d’équipe.
  • Approche analytique et quantitative du travail, avec la capacité d’influencer des intervenants à tous les niveaux.
  • Excellentes aptitudes en organisation, en planification, en communication et en collaboration.
  • Solides compétences en documentation technique.

 

Qualifications préférées :

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. Compensation for hourly, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for salaried, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for sales roles is governed by Sales Incentive Compensation Plan (which includes certain annual non-discretionary incentives based on predetermined objectives).

This job involves regular collaboration with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders across Canada, the U.S., and/or internationally, making proficiency in English essential for effective communication and alignment. As detailed in the job description, this job involves communicating, both verbally and in writing, with other Boston Scientific teams located across Canada, the United States and/or with our international clients and partners. International customers and partners represent an important part of our activities. Based on an evaluation, we have determined that the duties of R&D Test Engineer I / ingénieur R&D en essais Iposition require knowledge of English in addition to French (oral and written). We also determined that the English language skills already required of other employees do not permit the performance of English language skills tasks related to R&D Test Engineer I / ingénieur R&D en essais I position.

However, in Québec, Boston Scientific limits as much as possible the number of positions for which it requires the knowledge of another language than French. Boston Scientific solely requires proficiency in English where it is necessary for the performance of an employee’s duties.
