About the Role

The Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing automated systems and processes to enhance efficiency and productivity. This role requires a deep understanding of automation technologies, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead and mentor junior engineers.

 

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test systems and scripts using Python, LabVIEW, TestStand and Python.
  • Develop and implement test plans, procedures, and scripts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities and requirements.
  • Optimize and improve existing test systems for performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to test systems and software.
  • Conduct regular testing and debugging of automated systems to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in automation technologies.
  • Document automation processes, procedures, designs and best practices.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in LabVIEW programming and development.
  • Experience with automation tools and frameworks (e.g., TestStand, NI hardware).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile methodologies.
  • Is resilient in the face of setbacks. Plans appropriately for risks and responds positively to unforeseen problems.
  • Excellent organizational, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong documentation skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with data acquisition and control systems.
  • Equipment and fixture design, along with test systems development experience.
  • Experience with hardware integration and troubleshooting.
  • Process Development; equipment validations and process characterization experience
  • Ability to translate theoretical and abstract ideas into meaningful innovation
  • Python and/or C/C++ programming experience
  • Data driven individual; statistical analysis experience

  • Effectuer des essais et du débogage réguliers des systèmes automatisés afin d’en assurer la fiabilité et le rendement.
  • Fournir un leadership technique et encadrer les ingénieurs juniors.
  • Se tenir à jour quant aux tendances et aux avancées en technologies d’automatisation.
  • Documenter les procédés, les procédures, les conceptions et les meilleures pratiques en automatisation.
  • Assurer une veille technologique continue dans le domaine.

 

Qualifications requises :

  • Baccalauréat ou maîtrise en génie électrique ou dans un domaine technique connexe.
  • Minimum de cinq (5) ans d’expérience en programmation et en développement avec LabVIEW.
  • Expérience avec des outils et des environnements d’automatisation (p. ex. TestStand, matériel de National Instruments).
  • Solides aptitudes en résolution de problèmes et grand souci du détail.
  • Excellentes compétences en communication et en travail d’équipe.
  • Connaissance du cycle de vie du développement logiciel (CLDL) et des méthodologies agiles.
  • Capacité à faire preuve de résilience face aux défis, à planifier adéquatement les risques et à réagir positivement aux situations imprévues.
  • Excellentes compétences organisationnelles, de communication et de collaboration.
  • Solides compétences en documentation technique.

 

Qualifications souhaitées :

  • Connaissance des systèmes d’acquisition de données et des systèmes de contrôle.
  • Expérience en conception d’équipements et de montages, ainsi qu’en développement de systèmes de test.
  • Expérience en intégration matérielle et en dépannage.
  • Expérience en développement de procédés, en validation d’équipements et en caractérisation de procédés.
  • Capacité à transformer des concepts théoriques et abstraits en solutions innovantes.
  • Expérience en programmation Python et/ou C/C++.

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

 

Compensation for hourly, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for salaried, non-sales roles may also include variable compensation, i.e., annual bonus target and long-term incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).

 

Compensation for sales roles is governed by Sales Incentive Compensation Plan (which includes certain annual non-discretionary incentives based on predetermined objectives).
