About the role 
The Sr. Supplier Engineer serves as a technical lead for the TheraSphere team to oversee and manage all aspects of projects and initiatives for process & material improvements launched by BSC or the Contract Manufacturing (CM) sites. In this role the Sr. Supplier Engineer will work independently to manage and provide guidance on projects for onboarding new service providers, and partner with cross-functional teams to execute deliverables according to business needs for TheraSphere product. The Supplier Engineering Team is responsible for the technical leadership and resolution of non-conformances and process improvements, in support of business continuity and integration of product and process changes into CM sites under Boston Scientific guidelines. The Sr. Supplier Engineer will play an integral part in leading the performance improvement of Sourced Finished Medical Device (SFMD) suppliers to consistently meet Boston Scientific’s requirements. This role requires to demonstrate a primary commitment to patient safety and collaboration with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure product quality meets customer’s expectations.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead initiatives and projects with suppliers to identify areas for improvement and provide guidance and support for process enhancements.
  • Evaluate and launch projects related to mass escalation and reactor capacity to ensure manufacturing capabilities are properly established to meet future product demand. 
  • Foster open and transparent communication with suppliers to ensure mutual understanding of expectations and objectives. Experience leading and managing large scale process improvement initiatives with support of six sigma and lean manufacturing tools.
  • Collaborate and lead communication with cross-functional teams, including Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and Regulatory to align supplier performance with company goals.
  • Lead the execution of SFMD Engineering and Quality deliverables and collaborate with cross-functional new product development teams to perform work in the next generation of the device. 
  • Interfaces with suppliers to support investigation of supplied material issues or supply constraints.
  • Investigate and address supplier-related issues, such as non-conformances, quality discrepancies, and delivery delays, in a timely and effective manner.
  • Execute and support NCEP/CAPA investigations to determine and address root cause for process deviations and component modifications.
  • Support product complaint investigation where supplied material is a potential root cause. Uses basic statistical tools where appropriate.
  • Maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures to support the BSC commitment to patient safety and product quality.

 

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineer, preferably Biomedical Engineering.
  • Experience working under regulated environment per ISO13485 and FDA guidelines.
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience as a Supplier/Sustaining Engineer.
  • Proficiency in statistical tools, such as Minitab.
  • Proficiency in report writing skills.
  • Good understanding of statistical methods, problem-solving techniques and six sigma methodologies

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to communicate effectively on all levels with strong technical writing and reporting skills 
  • Organized and detail-oriented; ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop internal and external relationships 
  • Results-driven with strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Experience working with nuclear medicine and radioactive materials.
  • Experience leading projects with suppliers and/or contract manufacturers.
