Purpose Statement

Define, plan and implement corporate communications tactics to support the business objectives.

This manager will have responsibility for providing a variety of communications services related to the implementation of internal and external communications programs aligned with the company’s overarching business objectives as well PR activities to further Boston Scientific’s reputation as a leading global medical device/technology organization. The manager will work directly with the site Vice President and senior leadership team to develop and execute the communication strategy.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute internal and external communication activities (both paper based and also digital and e-marketing based) to support company: Develop communication plans for all company events both internally and externally; Prepare reports, schedules, analysis and budgets on all activities; Plans and facilitates key employee communicate sessions.
  • Able to develop a plantwide communication strategy across all channels (plantwide emails, newsletters, branding displays, communications to the direct labor team)
  • Assist in the preparation of speeches, talking points and press release for the Vice President
  • Vendor Management: Assist in the selection and management of suppliers to ensure quality collateral at a competitive cost, within given timeframes; Interface with suppliers, i.e. graphic design agencies, printers, translation agencies and merchandising companies to ensure that corporate identity is maintained at all times.
  • Leverage Globally: Interface with all divisions and functions at International and US levels to ensure that documentation reflects business goals and expectations; Explore and leverage global opportunities with US counterparts.
  • Quality: Ensure awareness and compliance with applicable standard operating procedures to meet, comply and champion all quality and regulatory commitments of Boston Scientific; Responsible for facilitating and championing the quality requirements and the messaging of compliance to internal and external customers for all events and campaigns.
  • Develop the content, implement, monitor and research a wide range of communications including press releases, media pitches, social media postings, regional intranet website, regional newsletter, and internal announcements.
  • Edit and proofread materials to ensure consistency of voice and style across communications. Coordinate the cross functional review and approval of content as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-cultural team members for communications and branding activities to ensure consistent representation of initiatives across all audiences and channels.
  • Provide project management and organizational support: manage distribution of mass emails, coordinate meetings and interviews with subject matter experts and other key personnel in preparation for stories for internal and external communications purposes.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders (regional and corporate communication teams, communication managers at other BSC sites, outside organizations).
  • Will be involved in media training and issues management.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or equivalent.
  • 6 to 8 years of hands-on experience in corporate communication or public relations in a corporate, agency or news-based environment. Health care experience is an added advantage.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Highly skilled - both verbal and written - in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Possesses strong interpersonal, able to work with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong attention to detail with big picture vision.
  • Demonstrated digital and social acumen, analytical skills, research skills and the ability to synthesize and translate findings into strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, planning and time management skills. 
  • Bright “quick thinker” and self-starter. 
  • Adept at working in a team and cross-cultural environment while also displaying independence, initiative and enterprise; ability to maintain high productivity while balancing competing priorities.
  • Proficient in word processing and presentation software.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms and other digital tools.
