Purpose

This position involves providing financial & business support to key members of Galway’s leadership team and Value Streams.  An ideal candidate may have managed the Finance Function in a small to medium sized organization or held a senior position (e.g. No 2 Finance Person) in a large organization.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Business Support: Provide financial & business support to key functions within the business.  In this capacity, you will work with the relevant Director & their teams to provide day to day financial support and ensure results, forecasts & budgets are complete.  The successful candidate will need to review business processes within each of these groups to ensure full financial control & optimum efficiency.  He/She will also work with the teams to implement & drive process & cost improvements.
  • Full reconciliation and maintenance of P&L and balance sheet accounts.
  • Preparation and review of financial reports and monthly management accounts to the highest standards ensuring accuracy and appropriate supporting detail is in place.
  • Responsibility for Financial regulatory compliance and liaison with external accounting and global business services (shared service providers), and lead the internal and external audit process.
  • Responsible for all Tax Compliance including withholding tax. Review and manage tax compliance, tax audit and tax filings.
  • Implement GST treatment and implication arising from various business transactions and processes. Responsible for GST returns and support various statutory and government reporting i.e company secretarial requirements, Bank Negara Malaysia Statistics, Surveys etc.
  • Assist in setting up and implementation of Business Process and Finance Operating Procedures  for the site
  • Assist in setting up and implementation of all Information Systems required for the site i.e full SAP implementation, Kronos etc
  • Implementation and maintenance of internal controls and create a Sox 404 compliant environment. Ensure adherence to internal policies and best practice policies.
  • Improve efficiencies across the function to reduce operational cost.
  • End to End Management of Fixed Asset Process: Full responsibility for the end to end management of the Fixed Asset Process.  This includes: Capital forecasting by Qtr & by area including review of capital projections & projects with the Leadership Team.  Financial appraisal of capital investments.  Ensure the site fully complies with all relevant policies & procedures.  Lead Sarbanes Oxley requirements for this area.  Roll out of capital training program across the site. Supervision & Development of 1 Person
  • Adhoc Project Support: We operate in a very dynamic environment and have a strong focus on continuous improvement.  The candidate must be capable of representing Finance on various project teams and take a lead role within the team to drive improvements & cost savings.
  • Embed a continuous improvement culture to ensure process and service standardisation and consistency.
  • To perform any other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Dealing with other ad-hoc matters as they arise

Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.  Interprets, executes and recommends modifications to company policies. Assists in establishing departmental policies and procedures. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
  • Business Relationships and Project Management :Establishes and cultivates a wide range of business relationships to facilitate completion of assignments. May interact with vendors. Participates in determining goals and objectives for projects. May lead projects within the function or department and/or represents a specialized field in larger project teams. Influences middle management on business solutions.
  • Impact : Contributes to the completion of specific programs and projects.  Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.
  • Liaison : Represents organization as a prime contact on contracts or projects. Interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters often requiring coordination between organizations. Uses discretion, diplomacy and tact to resolve difficult situations. May escalate serious issues to manager.
  • Mentoring : Participates in the development of less experienced staff by setting an example, providing guidance, and offering counsel.
