Principal Supplier Engineer

Pur;pose Statement:
A fully qualified engineer in all conventional aspects of the subject matter or the functional areas of the assignments, plans and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. Interfaces with cross functional groups in resolving problems encountered in the supply chain. Work is usually independently performed with general instructions as to the objectives expected. Receives technical guidance on unusual or complex problems and supervisory approval on proposed plans for projects.
Job Respondsibilities:
- Independently executes plans to support supply chain objectives; supplier performance, supplied material risk mitigation and execution of materials VIP. Can communicate plans at a high level within the organization and organize projects by requesting support at plant management level. Proficient in the use of all business tools.
- Leads project teams coordinating the efforts of engineers and cross functional team members to qualify and improve supplier processes. Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates all phases of the engineering work for of a major project.
- Performs work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include a variety of complex features such a conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and difficult coordination requirement.
- Lead NCEP/CAPA/Complaint investigations where supplied material is a potential root cause. Expert in the use of statistical tools (re. Six Sigma Black Belt). Can provide guidance to junior engineering staff on problem solving methodology. Broad familiarity with analytical techniques commonly used to investigate component defects. Highly in report writing skills; ability to tailor technical message to suit audience.
- Subject matter expert for component qualification activities- First Article and Acceptance Activities. Proficiency in BSC systems and processes: PDM, NCEP, eCAPA
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technical discipline is required.ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certification or working knowledge is an added advantage.Proven experience in supplier engineering, process engineering, or supplier process management.Strong technical expertise across BSC-related commodities, including:
- Plastic Resin / Chemical (mandatory)
- Metal components
- Packaging materials
- Electronics / Fiber
- Experience in supplier selection, supplier process and material changes, and technical support for purchased commodities.
- Solid understanding of supplier quality management, including non-conformance investigation and resolution within the supply chain.
- Leadership experience managing small teams is preferred.
- Strong engineering background with the ability to drive technical decisions and supplier performance improvements.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse, multicultural environment and support organizational diversity & inclusion initiatives.
