About the Role
We are looking for a detailed-oriented and collaborative Billing Analyst to join Legal & Global Compliance. This role is key in helping the department maximize the value of its legal spend while ensuring strong financial steward. This role will partner with attorneys, finance teams and outside counsel to review invoices, manage the quarterly accrual process, maintain matter and billing data, and support strategic financial management initiatives.
Your Responsibilities Include:
- Review and process outside counsel invoices for accuracy, compliance with billing guidelines, and adherence to approved budgets.
- Analyze invoice discrepancies and communicate directly with law firms to resolve billing issues in a timely manner.
- Set up and maintain legal matters within the legal e-billing and matter management system, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.
- Partner with internal attorneys and Legal Operations team members to support matter management, invoice approvals, and budget tracking.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting on legal expenses, accruals, and budget performance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, billing guidelines, and outside counsel engagement requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve billing processes, increase efficiency, and enhance data quality.
- Support implementation of process improvements and system enhancements related to legal operations and e-billing.
- Promote a high level of customer service while collaborating with internal business partners and external law firms.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Legal Studies, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in billing, accounts payable, finance, legal operations, or a related analytical role.
- Experience reviewing invoices and reconciling billing discrepancies.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with attorneys, law firms, and cross-functional business partners.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with legal e-billing and matter management systems (e.g., Legal Tracker, TeamConnect, CounselLink, Brightflag, or similar) is preferred.
- Experience with SAP or other enterprise financial systems is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- English proficiency sufficient to effectively communicate with global internal and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm.
- Knowledge of legal billing guidelines, outside counsel management, and legal spend management practices.
- Experience supporting budgeting, reporting, or financial analysis within a legal or professional services environment.
- Continuous improvement mindset with experience identifying and implementing process efficiencies.
