About this role:
Supports and partners with R&D engineers on projects & product development tasks by performing research and engineering laboratory functions involving the layout, building, testing, documenting, troubleshooting, repairing and modification of mechanical or electromechanical materials, devices, assemblies, subassemblies, systems, and products
Your responsibilities will include:
- Performs a variety of duties in the electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, chemical, or optical areas.
- Builds or assembles prototype materials, components, subassemblies and assemblies.
- Constructs, operates, troubleshoots, calibrates, adjusts, maintains, and tests equipment, systems, or products.
- Works from schematics, engineering drawings, standards, and written or verbal instructions.
- Obtains necessary supplies and components, prepares samples, performs tests, analyzes data, and writes reports.
- Develops and validates test methods.
- Reviews or develops processing or manufacturing instructions, aids, and fixtures.
- Maintains detailed documentation through all phases of development, testing and analysis.
- Communicates project status to project teams.
- May assist in the transfer of technology and/or contribute in cross-functional discussions regarding device performance allegations.
- Explores and proposes creative solutions based on solid rationales and contributes to design and process concepts.
- Trains other technicians, assemblers and engineers on procedures and product assembly.
- Proactively recommends new ideas and/or improvements pertaining to design and process.
- Maintains a safe work environment, meeting company safety policies and all regulatory requirements, and standards.
Required qualifications:
- 6 years of experience with a high school degree or an equivalent combination of education/work experience
Prefer qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience as an R&D technician in med device
- Advanced CAD skills including SolidWorks (CAD)
- Basic (or better) understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Detailed oriented, organized, and a self-starter
- Good oral and written communication skills with ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in writing
- Advanced ability to problem solve, multi-task, and manage numerous projects simultaneously
- Ability to work in a team environment interacting with engineers and technicians
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and direction
- Good teammate
- Previous experience with catheter manufacturing (i.e. coil winding, braiders, etc.) preferred
- Previous experience with Instron Testing System and milling machines
- Mechanically inclined with history of creative problem solving highly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to setup/conduct product testing and collect data to medical device standards
