Boston Scientific's hybrid workplace includes Working From Home and onsite. You will have the opportunity to discuss details in the interview.
About the role:
Works cross-functionally to lead process development of complex technologies on new products and ensures efficient and effective transfer of new product into production.
Mechanical Design (Mechatronics-Oriented):
• Design and develop custom mechanical systems, machine parts, jigs, and fixtures using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PTC Creo).
• Apply knowledge of kinematics, statics, dynamics, and materials science to design robust, cost-effective equipment.
• Work with multi-body simulations, FEA (Finite Element Analysis), and tolerance analysis to validate designs.
• Integrate motion systems (servo motors, linear actuators, gearboxes) into automated process equipment.
• Ensure mechanical components align with electrical and control systems during the design phase (true mechatronic integration).
• Collaborate with vendors and fabrication shops for prototyping and commissioning. • Design and develop custom mechanical systems, machine parts, jigs, and fixtures using CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PTC Creo).

Process Control & Automation:
• Design, configure, and optimize automated process control systems using PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley), HMIs, and SCADA.
• Develop and maintain control logic, safety interlocks, and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherNet/IP, CANopen).
• Apply control theory (e.g., PID tuning) for process optimization, stability, and performance monitoring.
• Interface control systems with sensors, encoders, vision systems, and industrial robotics.
• Implement data acquisition and analysis for OEE, process capability, and predictive maintenance.
Process Engineering & Continuous Improvement:
• Lead Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Automation (DFA) reviews.
• Evaluate and improve process flow, takt time, throughput, and quality metrics.
• Implement Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma practices.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and failure mode effect analysis (FMEA).
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) through early involvement in design phases.
• Assess process capabilities, prioritize process improvement opportunities, and innovate and implement process improvements on platform or derivative projects.
• Apply technical knowledge to innovate, design, and develop processes, procedures, tooling, and/or automation.
• Execute the functional deliverables associated with the PDP/TDP, Project Management, and Quality Systems.
• Ensure proper documentation is completed to meet quality systems requirements (e.g., BOMs, Routers, FMEAs).
• Develop qualified production lines.
• May supervise Technicians and Engineers to achieve project goals.
