About the Role:
The Principal Strategic Sourcing Specialist develops and executes sourcing strategies designed to reduce costs, enhance supplier value contributions, and establish a sustainable competitive edge in key direct sourcing categories. With a focus on the metals category, this role collaborates with divisional stakeholders to align and optimize sustainable sourcing strategies to achieve service and cost improvement targets, while leading a team of cross-functional partners in Supplier Quality and Supplier Engineering to execute project deliverables, ensure product quality, and drive cost savings. At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week.

Your responsibilities will include:
1. Strategic Negotiation & Contracting
- Lead complex, high‑value negotiations with full accountability.
- Anticipate supplier behavior and align strategies with organizational priorities.
- Interpret and manage complex contracts, guiding risk allocation and enforceability.
2. Category & Supplier Strategy Development
- Design and execute sourcing strategies for critical, high‑risk categories.
- Engage stakeholders to ensure alignment with business goals and global practices.
- Drive initiatives to completion, delivering measurable impact.
3. Supplier Relationship Management
- Own strategic supplier relationships, resolving issues independently.
- Build executive‑level supplier partnerships to support long‑term business goals.
- Mentor team members on supplier management strategies.
4. Communication & Stakeholder Influence
- Deliver concise, executive‑ready presentations to senior leadership.
- Anticipate questions and provide proactive answers.
- Influence stakeholders up to VP level, balancing assertiveness with collaboration.
5. Risk & Problem Solving Leadership
- Address enterprise‑wide, ambiguous problems with cross‑functional solutions.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on supplier risk and strategy.
- Continuously assess and mitigate geopolitical, financial, and supply risks.
6. Leadership & Talent Development
- Lead enterprise‑impacting initiatives, aligning senior stakeholders.
- Provide coaching, feedback, and growth opportunities to team members.
- Resolve high‑stakes conflicts and implement process improvements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 7.5 years of experience with strategic sourcing, procurement and supplier relationship management in a manufacturing environment
- Experience with supplier strategy development with effective decision-making with strong negotiation skills; ability to influence internal and external teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred more than 10 years of experience with strategic sourcing, procurement and supplier relationship management in a manufacturing environment
- Master’s degree or professional certification (CPSM, CPIM, CSCP, PMP, Lean Six Sigma, etc.)
- Experience working in medical devices or similarly regulated industry
- Experience sourcing for and procuring metal components
- Ability to work independently & collaborate with cross-functional teams to complete projects
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills: process and results-oriented
- Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to communicate effectively with individuals on all levels
- Detail oriented with strong organizational skills; ability to multi-task and prioritize competing responsibilities effectively
