About the role:
This position involves all aspects of supplier selection, supplier process & material changes and technical support for purchased commodities in BSC. The Supplier Engineering Team is responsible for the technical leadership within the supply chain, achieving year-on-year material cost reduction targets and supplier process optimization.Area of work involves processes related to qualification and assessment of supplied materials.
Responsibilities Include:
Deliver the following key deliverables: Material qualification, statistical studies and capability analysis, Acceptance Activities Contracts, SCIAs, eCMAs, VIPs.Manage project plans and timelines, prioritize and manage multiple critical projects to resolve supply constraints to support production lines.Proactively identify and drive Value Improvement Projects(VIP’s) with suppliers at all Tiers in the supply chain.Partners with cross functional teams- R&D, Process Development, Quality, Production, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Marketing, and external vendors to develop standard and custom devices used in Boston Scientific products.Works with suppliers around the globe to define and understand their manufacturing processes, tools, equipment, ongoing controls and acts as technical expert to ensure repeatable and reproducible quality/reliability during the life of the product.Supports investigation of Material Quality issues as they arise: works with Quality, Procurement & Business Units to resolve issues related to materials/suppliers and validate corrective and preventive actions.Provides guidance to other functional areas in applying Supplier Management system requirements.Contributes to the development, maintenance and improvement of Supplier Management Policies and Procedures.Interface effectively with all internal & external key stakeholders: works with Procurement, Supplier Quality Engineering, Receiving Inspection & Business Units.Identifies Design Outputs, control mechanisms, and completes Material Qualification.Builds partnerships and ensure quality and regulations compliance by working with suppliers around the globe to understand requirements, influence, plan, schedule, conduct and coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work to achieve supplier compliance and meet project milestones.Partner with PMOs from different divisions to support supplier engineering action items..Leads and/or participates in project teams coordinating the efforts of engineers and cross functional team members to qualify and improve supplier processes.Drives troubleshooting processes and problem-solving methodologies at supplier facilities to drive quality, reliability, and supply chain improvements.Supports sustaining projects which may include qualification, supplier change assessments, and restricted material evaluations.In all actions, demonstrates a primary commitment to patient safety and product quality by maintaining compliance to the Quality Policy and all other documented quality processes and procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Materials, Plastics, Industrial, Chemical and Mechanical)
- 0-3 years in a related industry with experience in a process/manufacturing/supplier engineering role
- Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Individual must be self-driven and self-motivated to learn and use that knowledge to produce results.
- Strong bias for action and results oriented
- English Level required: B2 (70% - 79%)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Medical Device Experience Preferred
- Previous experience in working with suppliers is preferred.
- Sound demonstrated understanding of statistical methods, six sigma methodologies.
- Desired knowledge: Tools (Statistics, Technical Manuals, Kaizen,Six Sigma),Process Improvement
