About the Role

The Director of Distribution is responsible for US Distribution operations and multiple outsourced 3PL DC’s located in North America.  Provide overall lead support for the entire Quincy site (overall facilities, EH&S, ERG support, employee events, etc) inclusive of IT, Customer Care and other functions beyond Distribution Ops. You will be driving the organization through embedding a continues improvement culture to reach the lowest possible cost per unit, exceeding customer expectations, exploring sales growth opportunities and continuing high levels of employee engagement and motivation. 

 

 Responsibilities

  • Provide Quincy leadership and vision to the overall Distribution Center operations including Quality, Service, Total Cost and Network Resiliency.
  • This position will serve as a Management Rep with Executive Responsibility for Quincy facility for all audits (internal and regulated agencies)
  • Lead Distribution technology implementations in support of distribution
  • Direct responsibility of distribution quality, fill rates, total cost, process improvement programs, operational budgets, and DC cycle time.  All to ensure operations consistently meets or exceeds key operational metrics and targets.
  • Partner with site Management leadership Team (Human Resources, Finance, Quality, Customer Care, Engineering etc) to identify areas of improvement, establish facility expectations and overall success of the site.
  • Foster an inclusive culture and an environment that encourages constructive feedback and coaching, understanding of individual career goals and aspirations and proactive development support for all employees.  Includes goal setting and professional development.
  • Work with BSC’s end to end supply chain leaders to drive excellence in overall delivery to our patients globally.
  • Be an active partner of the global Distribution network. Contribute to the global development of the Distribution strategies to leverage our global infrastructure and economies of scale to continue to optimize our value across Boston Scientific’s end-to-end supply chain.
  • Develop and manage 3PL contracts to meet and exceed service level agreements and overall costs.
  • Manage budget planning, forecasting, and tracking.  Direct and control the activities and budget of one or more functional areas, divisions, product groups, projects/programs and/or operations including Capital, 3PL and all related Staffing.
  • Develop a layered approach to resiliency in collaboration with the end-to-end supply chain strategy.
  • Define strategies to allow future flexibility in managing growth, activity expansion and increased complexity. 
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and SOPs(e.g. federal/country and regulatory requirements) and ensure training plans are defined and completed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required; Advanced or master’s degree preferred, preferably with a Supply Chain specialization
  • Senior executive presence, comfortable presenting and collaborating with Senior Leaders as a Business Advisor
  • Relevant functional and leadership experience within the areas of Supply Chain and/or Distribution.  Experience with process improvement and lean techniques.
  • Ability to successfully manage and execute multiple, large scale projects using established project management tools and processes.
  • Experience of managerial experience in leading large and diverse teams across multiple locations.
  • Demonstrated capability in collaborating and partnering within a complex and matrix global distribution and manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated high degree of integrity, professionalism, and ability to establish credibility
  • High sense of urgency and commitment to execution
  • 25% travel required
