Industrial Engineer I

 

About the role:

The Industrial Engineer is responsible for working with key business partners to drive value improvement guided by lean principles to support business strategy and priorities.

 

Your responsibilities include:

  • Understands business processes and requirements and translating them to specific software requirements including Business Requirements Documents & GAP Analysis for enhancement development if required. 
  • Can provide written feedback to document best practices. May be required to facilitate meetings between associates and process stake holders.
  • Will develop engineered labor standards, including the use of time studies, and the use of pre-determined time system, MOST. (Prior MOST, MSD or MTM experience is a plus but not a requirement)
  • Validates Engineered Labor Standards are within acceptable tolerance and accurately represent the observed work completed including an individual’s performance to adherence to the best practice and pace rating.  
  • Knowledge of engineered labor standards, ELS, in a warehouse environment and provide that expertise to the project team.
  • Majority of time will be spent on the floor observing associates for either collecting frequencies of events to WMOS key process indicators, and/or observing associates to validate the SAM values entered into Manhattan Labor Management. 
  • Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
  • Has knowledge of alternatives and an understanding of their impact on the business or technological environment.
  • Plans, organizes, and prioritizes own daily work routine to meet established schedule.
  • Works under general direction regarding the progress of projects and special assignments.
  • May seek guidance in resolving problems, interpreting established policies, procedures and practices. 
  • Cultivates a wide range of internal business relationships and begins to develop an external network of resources to facilitate completion of tasks.
  • May lead a project team of small to moderate scope. Influence exerted at peer level and occasionally at first levels of management.
  • Contributes to the completion of departmental projects and goals. Errors in judgment, poor recommendations, or failure to achieve results would normally require a moderate expenditure of resources to rectify.
  • Engages with internal company and external contacts.
  • Represents organization on specific projects.  Uses diplomacy and tact in interactions and problem solving.
  • Provides guidance to less experienced staff.
  • Strategic thinker and team player. 
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision. 

 

What we’re looking for:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Proven ability in leading teams for process improvements, leading Kaizen events.
  • Perform analysis to determine costs/cost savings, building time standards for processes current/new.
  • Understanding and practice of Lean Principles, Lean Certification.
  • Ability to create work flows, establish time standards, assess equipment and determine feasibility for potential use in operations.
  • Present to various levels of organization, work in a team environment, collaborates well with others

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean/Six Sigma experience in Distribution/MFG
  • Experience in Leading teams/Executing Process Improvements
  • Experience with Labor Management system
  • Knowledge of WMS/SAP systems
