About the role:
Boston Scientific is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Principal Logistics Specialist to lead transportation networks and performance optimization within our Global Transportation team. In this influential role, you will provide thought leadership and strategic oversight across our North America domestic and international small parcel networks. You will act as a key liaison between transportation providers and internal business stakeholders, ensuring that our logistics operations are cost-effective, performance-driven, and aligned with global KPIs. This position plays a critical role in shaping transportation strategy, supporting high-impact initiatives, and advancing our logistics capabilities through data-driven solutions and cross-functional collaboration.
Work model, sponsorship, relocation:
At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office at least three days per week. Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead strategic logistics initiatives to improve domestic and international small parcel transportation performance, cost-efficiency, and service levels
- Serve as the senior point of contact for tactical and strategic decisions with transportation carriers, 3PLs, and internal stakeholders
- Drive continuous improvement in transportation operations by monitoring KPIs, performing root cause analyses, and implementing corrective actions
- Create and maintain transportation budgets for different freight categories and services
- Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Distribution, Sourcing, and Commercial teams to deliver end-to-end logistics solutions that support business objectives
- Develop and implement business intelligence dashboards and reporting tools to track performance, forecast trends, and support strategic decisions
- Own vendor management activities including Quarterly Business Reviews, performance audits, and long-term capability development
- Evaluate alternate methods of transportation and recommend cost-effective, service-oriented strategies to drive efficiency and resilience
- Serve as a subject matter expert for transportation technology and analytics platforms, including Tableau, Power BI, and other tools
Qualifications:
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of 8 years' experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field
- Demonstrated experience with transportation network optimization, KPI management, and cross-functional leadership
- Proven success managing outsourced transportation providers and multi-modal logistics operations (domestic and international)
- Strong analytical skills and experience working with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills at all levels of the organization
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in the medical device, healthcare, or high-technology sectors
- Track record of leading large-scale logistics improvement projects and driving innovation across supply chain operations
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed, and global environment
- High degree of self-motivation, accountability, and operational discipline
