About the role: 
 
The Logistics Freight Payment & Audit Specialist is responsible for managing the third-party freight audit service providers that process and audit domestic and international freight invoices for the Global transportation network.  The incumbent will provide accrual reports to the finance group and coordinate payments with BSC internal Accounts Payables, while overseeing daily engagements and BSC’s freight audit and payment processes. 
 
Your responsibilities will include...

  • Assist management with reviewing, negotiating, awarding and administering service agreements with carriers, freight auditors and transportation suppliers
  • Work with domestic and international freight carriers and third-party audit companies to address billing inquiries, and resolve process issues and errors
  • Track KPIs related to 3rd party freight auditors and payment partners; monitor performance and escalate issues to management as necessary
  • Audit and manage cost allocation according to business rules and ensure freight charges are sourced to the correct cost center  
  • Review aging reports from freight vendors to ensure accounts are current and all invoices have been received and processed
  • Conduct research on transportation methods and rates; compile monthly and yearly freight accruals to project spend 
  • Identify and resolve invoicing issues with carriers and vendors to ensure timely and accurate freight payments    
  • Develop strategic partnerships with vendors and conduct quarterly business reviews to ensure quality service 
  • Create programs to monitor and evaluate performance, audit carrier rates, charges and cost of shipping lanes  
  • Analyze the root cause of rate errors and use related carrier information to recommend corrective actions  
  • Develop comprehensive financial reports and dashboards using advanced technology, systems and tools
  • Analyze alternate transportation methods and programs to project cost and service improvements     

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with transportation freight auditing or pricing 
  • Experience with interpreting and applying contract language 
  • Knowledge of various transportation modes and Incoterms

 
Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, International Business or Finance & Accounting 
  • 5 or more years of experience with transportation freight auditing or pricing 
  • Experience with transportation or supply chain within the Healthcare industry 
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships and collaborate with internal and external teams
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in fast-paced environment
  • Customer service-oriented with strong oral and written communication skills 
  • Results driven and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills 
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills 
  • Experience with SAP
