About the role:
You will join Boston Scientific at an exciting time as we digitally transformation our customer and colleague experiences.  Our vision is to globally introduce a newly defined modular taxonomy within the next two years.  This global role focuses on using taxonomy to transform how assets, content, and product information are supplied and shared across our organisation. You will be responsible for maintaining the taxonomy design, its deployment and integration with downstream systems including our corporate website, eCommerce websites, educational platforms, a product hub, sales, and marketing teams.  You will maintain the taxonomy blueprint and guidelines as new products are introduced and make improvements based on internal / customer research and emerging specializations in the medical field.
This fast-paced leadership role is the single point of contact interface between business stakeholders and system / product owners.  As Taxonomy Architect you will initially be responsible yourself, and later grow a team to deliver the Taxonomy Product Managers strategic roadmap, lead change management, provide subject matter guidance on the taxonomy standard, guidelines, and training material within an Agile methodology environment.  You will own the taxonomy backlog, high-level planning, and regular releases of taxonomy updates.  You will work closely with product designers, technical architects, and software engineers.

 

Your responsibilities will include:
CORE ACTIVITIES
•Accountable to lead the full design cycle from requirements to release
•Lead kickoff, discovery, research, and other exploratory activities linked to new design cycles, new inventories or mapping activities linked to taxonomy conversion (old vs new)
•Lead change management, training and socializing of taxonomy across the global business
•Build trusted relationship with key stakeholders (KOLs), Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and confidently communicate with them
•Analyze complex / ambiguous information issues and synthesize a taxonomy-based solution
•Plan incremental updates and delivery based upon available resources and budget
•Partner with product owners to implement taxonomy within their systems
•Give regular updates to stakeholders and sub-streams, champion meetings and workshops

CORE DESIGN ACTIVITIES
•Be the global lead architectural developing the unified enterprise-level Taxonomy that can be adopted across the business.  This will involve a canonical hierarchy which must be aligned to several functional hierarchies
•Make clinical and technological recommendations to improve classification of assets across customer touchpoints
•Work closely with the medical advisory board, SMEs, functional leads, and agency partners to validate and apply design modifications
•Incorporate ADDIE, Agile and Lean methodologies in design and product development, implementation,and operations. 

 

Minimum Requirements:
•Master’s degree in either Data Architecture, Brand Architecture and Communication Design, or Library and Information Science, Knowledge Management, Information Management, or equivalent professional experience. 
•10+ years’ experience in design and innovation with particular emphasis on products or services and their application, data architecture or data modelling for a large corporate institution
•Demonstrate a deep understanding of vocabulary construction and maintenance, taxonomy, and ontology
•Experience developing integration strategies for taxonomy / ontology platforms is essential.  Candidates with library backgrounds should also have technical services experience
•Demonstrate a solid understanding of data flow, associated technologies, and classification systems
•Strongly advantageous is proven experience in the medical or pharma industry
