About the role

 

Boston Scientific, a leading Medical Device company, is looking for an intern to work on Quality System improvement projects. The intern will assess opportunities for improvement in quality, supply chain and business processes, with focus on automating tasks. Automation may entail any form of software including bots, automated spreadsheets, RPA (Robotic Process Automation), dashboards, data extractions, artificial intelligence, etc. Programming knowledge is a desired skill. Software validation following established procedures might also be required; this might include the documentation of system requirements, development and execution of test protocols, documentation of validation results, etc. Multiple projects might be conducted at the same time, so an ability to organize and prioritize work is essential. The role requires interaction with and influencing of many different departments including Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain, Information Technology and others.

 

Your responsibilities will include

 

  • Map process and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Propose and develop automation of process tasks.
  • Estimate level of effort and resource requirements by working with appropriate staff to understand scope of effort.
  • Support project plans, schedules, by using project management tools such as Microsoft Project and/or Microsoft Planner and by working with appropriate staff to understand tasks necessary to complete project. 
  • Execute assigned tasks, track project schedules, identify risks, propose and execute contingency plans.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path items while ensuring project quality.
  • Communicate project status by preparing standard status reports, and by participating in departmental and customer project status update meetings.
  • Report any identified project issues by working with team members, project customers, and others as appropriate.
  • Conduct project retrospectives and communicate lessons learned in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Support team and cross-functional communications.

 

What we are Looking for in you

 

Required Qualifications:

  • English Intermediate (B1) minimum, Upper Intermediate (B2) preferred.
  • University degree in progress in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of programming languages.
  • Familiarity with databases, algorithms, and data structures.
  • Good organizational skills and being able to follow established processes.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness.
  • We appreciate individuals who are relentless and persistent.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Portuguese preferred, NOT exclusive.
  • Prior experience in a similar role is not required but would add to the qualifications.
  • Prior experience in programming (through coursework, personal projects, or internships) is a plus.
