About the role:

This position’s primary responsibilities are to apply the appropriate engineering experience to provide design, hands-on skills, and technical support as part of a project team. Contributions may focus on optical medical laser system development, including prototype design, build, test, materials selection, and processes development. It typically includes experimental execution, problem solving and analysis, and technical documentation development.

Analyzes process, product, material or equipment specifications and performance requirements for projects of moderate complexity.  Under broad supervision /guidance and in conformance with  BSC’s Quality System, compiles and analyzes operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products/processes.  Identifies and resolves moderately complex exceptions to assignments.  Summarizes, analyzes, and draws conclusions from test results.  Based on conclusions of analysis, provides suggestions, recommendations, and implements solutions to process and product-related problems.   Troubleshoots new product/process problems as related to design or material.

 

 Your resposibilties include:

  • Fully Participates in and successfully contributes to project team (New product Development or Sustaining) deliverables, typically including the following activities: product design and development, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process capability studies, research investigations (animal and clinical studies), report preparation, process documentation’s, and other assigned activities.,
  • Exhibits technical leadership in the areas of optical and electrical system design
  • Design, develop and test medical laser systems especially related to optical sub-systems
  • Support Laser/ Optical system architecture design. Conduct performance/ implementation studies and analysis
  • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers and design firms if needed.
  • Assure all opto-electrical development work and documentation complies with the BSC Design Control Procedure, applicable government regulations, and applicable national and international standards.
  • Plans/schedules own activities necessary to meet timelines.
  • Trains and coordinates activities of technicians and assemblers for the purpose  of building or testing products.
  • Complies with appropriate Quality System procedures in performance of assigned Tasks.
  • Interfaces with vendors and other outside specialists to solve problems requiring external assistance.
  • Maintains compliance to assigned training requirements.
  • Discloses patentable new product ideas.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

What we're looking for in you:

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or Electrical Engineering
  • 2-4 years of R&D experience
  • Self-motivated with strong history of solving problems.
  • Ability to travel 10%

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • MS or PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or Electrical Engineering
  • Solidworks experience
  • Competent in Minitab Statistical Analysis software (or equivalent)
