About the role:
The Senior Accountant, Corporate Technical Accounting will be a key member of the technical accounting group at Boston Scientific. We are a dynamic, high-performing team that is responsible for overseeing complex and judgmental technical accounting areas, implementing and maintaining global accounting policies and compliance with external reporting requirements. This role will be responsible for leading accounting processes related to intangible assets, patents, IPR&D, goodwill, contingent consideration, and segment reporting. This role will also support acquisition related processes and work with stakeholders across the global organization to understand business drivers and opportunities/risks in order to identify accounting implications and impact to Boston Scientific; continually assess and implement process improvements; and maintain accurate accounting of results in a well-controlled environment.


Your responsibilities include:

  • Apply technical accounting research to various areas including investments, business combinations, contingent consideration, intangible assets, and segment reporting. 
  • Prepare technical accounting memos and presentations to highlight key considerations and financial impacts 
  • Complete accounting close activities and related internal controls, including preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations 
  • Partner with the SEC Reporting team to prepare high-quality footnotes and disclosures for our quarterly and annual filings 
  • Partner with the Corporate SOX team to maintain effective internal controls over areas of responsibility 
  • Liaise with external auditors to address review/audit questions and provide relevant responses and supporting documentation 
  • Deliver accurate annual plan and periodic forecast estimates to FP&A for each area of responsibility 
  • Drive continuous improvement within our processes to gain efficiencies 
  • Support an inclusive culture at BSC

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience and education; Master’s degree a plus
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience required.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a public accounting firm preferred; mix of public/private a plus. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; SAP and Hyperion Financial Management experience a plus.
  • CPA preferred 
  • Strong accounting and analytical skills
  • Solid knowledge of US GAAP and ability to interpret and apply technical accounting research and reach conclusions 
  • Desire to engage, lead, and work in cross-functional teams (independently and in a consultative manner) 
  • Attention to detail and data accuracy 
  • Highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong interpersonal skills which provide the ability to establish and build working relationships with individuals throughout the organization
