Job Title: Category Manager

Location: Shanghai

About the role:

The Category Manager at Boston Scientific is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for finished medical devices. Establish & enhance supplier relationships to drive sourcing & supplier initiatives to meet or exceed product quality, service & deliver sustainable cost reductions, whilst reducing or mitigating risk in the Supply Chain. Responsible for collaborating with internal stakeholders and aligning on optimal sourcing strategies to develop and implement one common category strategy for the assigned category. Responsible for developing a supplier database that identifies and categorizes potential suppliers by category and region to increase the value proposition and reduce TCO.

Responsibilities

• Sourcing strategy development
• Finish medical device supplier sourcing per business needs
• Supplier assessment, selection and onboarding
• Develop contracting strategies with suppliers, negotiate contract T&C’s
• Conduct RFQ, understand cost structure and negotiate with suppliers to meet cost expectations
• New product launch with suppliers
• Supplier performance management (cost, delivery, quality, service, capacity, resilence, sustainability, etc.) by organizing monthly or quarterly business reviews with key suppliers
• Supplier relationship management to drive value creations, strategic directions and technology roadmap alignment with suppliers.
• Cost management strategy, and drive year over year cost optimizations
• Early involvement with internal stakeholders and finish device supply partners to plan sourcing activities in the beginning to drive product launch with speed
• Keep monitoring of supply market dynamics, understand buisness impact to Boston Scientific, drive actions to capture opportunities or mitigate risks
• Supplier performance gap analysis, and partner with internal Supplier Engineering, SQE and other teams to drive supplier development to meet Boston Scientific expectations  
• Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports BSC’s Quality Policy, Quality System, and the applicable regulations.

Key Skills & Experiences:

• Bachelor’s degree or above
• Minimum of 10 years‘ experience in strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management
• Experience managing supplier contracts and negotiating value improvements
• Proven anlytical skills and quantitative abilities e.g.,cost modeling, data analysis
• Leadership and influcening skills
• Excellent communication and engagement skills, understanding contexts, drive alignment and executions
• Proficiency in both English and Mandarin
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, travel typically does not occur over weekend
• Can do attitude, self-driven with minimized supervision, emotional intelligence, resilence

Preferred Qualifications: 

• OEM, Finish Goods sourcing experience
• Medical industrial expereince
• Experience in developing immature suppliers
• Understanding about diversified manufacutring technologies and processes
• Problem solving skills
