About the Role:

The Logistics Manager I in Spencer, will oversee the inventory control function, set the direction for international and domestic traffic, material control/handling and warehousing. This person will partner with Purchasing and Manufacturing to optimize department performance. Hire, train and develop personnel for the inventory control, receiving, warehousing, traffic, top assembly packaging and shipping personnel.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Oversees the cycle count process and kanban program for sub-assemblies, WIP and purchased materials. This includes the generation of weekly SAP reports to determine weekly scheduled cycle counts and also includes performing a quarterly analysis and update of physical inventory indicators.
  • Direct leadership responsibility for 2 Supervisors (each with 40+ direct reports)
  • Works with internal and external auditors on a regular schedule to ensure department policies related to inventory accuracy are in line with company goals and objectives.  Creates documented policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GMP and ISO requirements.
  • Oversees the process execution for obsolete, excess and expired materials to ensure the material is transacted and disposed of properly.
  • Works closely with Purchasing, Manufacturing Planning, Manufacturing, Suppliers, and Corporate entities to ensure material for sister plants and other BSC partners is pulled and shipped in a safe and timely manner, while maintaining inventory accuracy.
  • Manages Receiving, Warehouse, Bulk Packaging and Top Assembly Packaging efficiently & effectively. Maximizes space utilization in all Depts. 
  • Provides growth and development opportunities, fosters, and recognizes continuous improvement initiatives. Demonstrates leadership in setting improvement goals and departmental objectives. Reviews performance on a regular basis and holds salary and performance reviews.
  • Reviews and approves change requests that are applicable to the Logistics Function.
  • Budgets and controls department annual operating expenses.
  • Constantly works toward streamlining Logistics processes to eliminate non-value-added activities. Drives progressive systems and process initiatives to embrace technology to enhance performance. (i.e.: RF, e-kanban, Point of use materials, pre-supplier labeling).
  • Creates and maintains a safe work environment for all members of the Logistics Department.
  • Develops metrics to monitor team member performance, inventory levels, quality, and cycle time.  Monitors outbound shipments from release to receipt, providing focus on exception-based issues. 

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of related experience in distribution, logistics, or supply chain
  • 1+ years of direct people leadership experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SAP
  • Continuous Improvement/LEAN Experience
