About the role:

The Machinist works to fabricate and modify custom tooling and fixtures that supports the rapid development of new products, equipment, and test methods. You will also provide immediate support to manufacturing equipment and tooling that is inoperable.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Fabricate quality custom tooling using basic technical skills: milling drilling, turning, and grinding, utilizing manual equipment.
  • Monitor project status to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Perform CAD/CAM operations including, basic drafting and design of tooling, and 2D/3D tool path programming.
  • Perform in-process inspection on parts being machined.
  • Maintain shop floor paperwork including weekly time sheets, job tracking sheets, and input of hours into database daily.
  • Perform routine maintenance of machine tools being used.
  • Assist and mentor team members.
  • Assess feasibility of design for fabrication, and offer solutions as necessary.
  • Determine methods and procedures for efficient fabrication on all projects, with minimal instruction from the lead, supervisor, or team member.
  • Supports the Manufacturing and Engineering Groups by performing a variety of duties including production machinery setup and troubleshooting and the modification and fabrication of production tooling within GMP guidelines and plant SOP’s.
  • Will sometimes be involved in formal design and documentation work.
  • Uses standard machine shop tools, works from drawing, diagrams, schematics and specific verbal and written instructions.
  • Uses specific methods to build, test and inspect equipment.
  • Makes adjustments, modifications and replacements as directed.
  • Performs work under direct supervision using generally accepted principles, theories, practices and procedures.
  • Follows prescribed work methods; however, may make independent decisions.
  • Must comply with requirements of requirements of ISO 14001 and BSC Environmental, Health and Safety standards and follow procedures and instructions related to these standards.

What we’re looking for in you:

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma required with a minimum of 3 years machine shop experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of machine tools and fabricating equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret detailed blue prints/schematics.
  • Familiarity with engineering terminology and concepts.
  • Some experience in related environments with similar machine equipment.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office, CAD/CAM programming software applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in engineering or related discipline.
  • Knowledge of Surfcam/Mastercam machine programming software.
